LLL.biz, still a good buy?

Hi all,
I've been out of the domain business for a few months now and surprisingly i have noticed that my (few) LLL.us names have increased quite a lot their value.
Even if i do think that LLL.us prices are going to increase more in the near future, i was looking around to find some good deals on the table.
I can see that now .info and .us are going easily for more then 150usd each, even the weak-lettered ones, while the prices for lll.biz are still quite low, if compared with the .info brothers or lll.us
I know that probably the .biz ext. is not really appealing, and in my opinion an lll.us is 10 times stronger then a lll.biz and probably stronger then a .info, but do you think that this kind of domains are still a good buy nowadays, on the wave with the other extensions, or are they going to be forgotten in the sandbox?

I bought a LLL.biz for $60 the other day. I don't agree with anything that 3Character.com says, cause its just a domainer like you or I that writes that.

IMO LLL.cc is even better than LLL.biz Unless they are premium letters

Good question...

.biz has certainly been the slowest performer recently in the major LLL landscape, but it would be hard to totally discount it...as well as unwise in my opinion.

For those who are looking to get into LLL domaining, .biz might just be the best bargain going.

.biz is a Gtld, whose reach is world-wide. For those end-users who can't afford the other top extensions, .biz is still quite marketable and often far more reasonable to purchase on the end-user level.

With the low cost of entry on the wholesale side, the risk for investors is quite minimal...and a successful investing technique for many LLL domainers has been to buy when certain extensions are not the "LLL.extension du jour."

For example, see how LLL.us has become the hot thing recently. Several months to a year ago, LLL.us were the underperformers in the marketplace, and they've recently skyrocketed in value. Those who were amassing LLL.us domains 6-8 months ago certainly aren't regretting that move right now (even though some questioned their doing so at the time). Prior to that, .info and .org became popular, both rifling up in value in short order.

So the question is, with .biz being the only Gtld under $xxx on the wholesale market, could it be primed for a quick growth in value? I've talked to some recently who are quietly buying LLL.biz when they can get them at great prices (often in bulk), and this is usually a sign of a comming run-up in the not-to distant future. Hard to say, but certainly not un-likely.

For a final thought...How many LLL.com, LLL.net, LLL.org, LLL.info, LLL.biz, LLL.us owners have you known over the years that have lost money on their LLL investments?

.biz isn't the fashionable extension of our time, but it certainly holds value in the LLL marketplace, and might be a great bet for the future.

Great Question,
:) zesty

Zesty makes a number of good points about the cyclical nature of the industry, especially as embodied in LLL cycles. That being said, I don't see a bright future in .biz -- it's essentially a poor substitute for .com, and doesn't have any of the sub potential that other extensions have (info, us, etc.) I would stick to com/net/org/info and ccTLDs if I were you

In general seems three letter .biz domains to be a decent buy. The prices are slowly going up but at least up. They could be a good long term investment, but a high profit should not be expected on a short term. It is possible to get three letter .biz in the xx$ range so the risk is low and compared to the other gTLDs is it always possible to sell three letter domains.

Quote:3-Letter .biz - $50 (+ $5 since September 5, 2006 report)

That's more than 11% in one month. Annualized that's a 250% return. Not too shabby.

That isnt how much it increases by every month... its just the change from when it was update.

Its a useless site i'm afraid, anyone could make it. Also, what use is what they are worth 2 months ago?

Ahmmmm .... isn't .mobi a Gtld???
But your statement may be correct. I wonder if there are LLL.mobis for sale anywhere for under $100. Every one I have seen the owner wants your first born.

Zesty - any plans to include LLL.mobis on the site?

I agree, IMO .biz are currently undervalued

I bought quite a few a year ago and they've at least doubled in value since then according to some of the sales I've seen recently. I'm ready for the big value spike that's due any day now. :)

Every dog has his day.....

Buy LLL.biz and you cannot go far wrong.
They are FAR more likely to go up than down.

Still, I'd personally rather buy one decent .us than 3 decent .biz names.

Sold approx 400 LLL.us and Quadrupled my money.
Sold approx 100 LLL.biz and more than doubled my money.

Had I held the .us names the gain would have been quite a bit larger while the .biz would not have brought in much more than what I got. What's that due to? Well the .us names were undervalued to begin with while the .biz market has been fairly stagnant for quite a while. A year ago you could hand reg LLL.us, but LLL.biz had been sold out for a while.

IMO - Current market = LLL.us overvalued, LLL.biz undervalued

I realize that - but I'm in the investment biz - we annualize everything. Despite 5% growth last month lll.biz is undervalued relative to other tlds imo.

I wouldn't call it useless - even if anyone could make it. No one else has that I'm aware of so it fills a niche. Knowing the average observed price (even a month old) is valuable when pricing whether you are a buyer or seller. LLL's are a commodity and we're the commodities dealers. Having a gauge of recent pricing is valuable.

Fair comment what with the recent 300% rise the LLL.us prices.

Personally, though, I'd say they are both undervalued.
I still think the .us has a long way to go. Is not hard to see the upward potential of the .us but its harder to see the same upward potential of .biz.

I see lll.us up to a level between current lll.org and lll.net prices by this time next year. At the same time I'd put lll.biz by then up to current .us prices.

There you go, I dont like sitting on the fence... :)

LLL.biz will catch LLL.us soon!

Just watch it.

Good Luck!
