Hi,

I've had this domain for about a year now. I was wondering if I should renew it? Please appraise. Is it a good name? Would there be any trademark issues with the Microsoft "Live" name? I searched the US trademark database, but there are simply too many entries for the search "Live" (most of them irrelevant). So I can't make up my mind.

Regards,

Nilesh

What kind of business would want this?

Actually there are a lot of software companies providing saas (software as a service) services in broad or targeted niches. If you google

site: *saas.com

you will come across many SaaS software companies with domains like:

ValueSaaS.com
OneSaaS.com
ActiveSaaS.com
SuperSaaS.com
SaaSMax.com

These kind of software companies are the target market for this domain.

OK, so I think your name is reasonable and you have a chance of a sale.

Regarding trademarks, you could not trademark:

LiveTV

because it's just using generic descriptive words, and the same argument could be put forward for:

LiveSaaS

Ok... I see what you mean about the trademark thing... Thanks v.much for your thoughts. I think I will go ahead and renew it.

Strange... I didn't get any emails for LiveSaas.com for a year, but just a couple of days after I posted the domain here for appraisal, I get an email from a lawyer in Israel evincing interest in the domain. He says he represents an investor from Europe. I'm suspicious also because Gmail says at the top "This message may not have been sent by: [email protected]". I'm assuming this is some kind of spam / scam but I think I'll reply back to him nevertheless. Should I?

I would say yes reply, because there is a chance it is genuine. Once you get a reply you can get more of an idea of who you are dealing with.

Start to be suspicious if they ask you to pay for an appraisal. That's a scam.

Ok... Thx for your replies...

@accelerator I was thinking the same too... will reply back to him and see what he has in mind...

Yep. Appraisal scam. I asked him to send his best offer, and he says his client is willing to pay between $180,000 to $200,000 (LOL)... but says he needs a certified domain and that it takes 1-2 mins to order certification (he didn't give any link but says he can provide one)...

Anyway... thanks for all your inputs...

Oh well. Anyway, it's a reasonable domain, so hopefully you'll have some luck with it later. Do you actively market your domains to end users?

It's worth keeping IMO

@accelerator Actually, I used to actively market my domains 3-4 years back. I used to email about 40-50 end-users and used to get 3-4 replies and make a sale. I also had an SEO developer client who used to buy keyword domains from me regularly. But I've been kind of occupied with other things in the last 2-3 years and for this one (LiveSaaS.com) I didn't send out even a single email. But I'm thinking of returning back to active domaining and emailing end-users.

@doubleU Yes, I'm keeping the domain. Just didn't get a chance to renew it in the last couple of days. But I'll renew it for sure.

Just to update: I renewed LiveSaas.com. Thanks for all your inputs.

Also regged: SaasFirm.com

I think it's a bit generic, but I kind of like it. If any of you wish to comment on / appraise this domain, I'm all ears. Not sure whether to open a new thread for this, so posting it here.

I would say LiveSaas.com is better than SaasFirm.com. "Firm" is not used that much by companies to describe themselves here in the UK.
