The Lance Armstrong Foundation has secured two rulings against cybersquatters who were selling Live Strong bracelets for a profit.
CSA Marketing and Chris Angeles were ordered to transfer three domain names to the Foundation, which was set up by the record-breaking cyclist and cancer survivor to raise money for cancer awareness and research. It has sold more than 50 million of the yellow bracelets, but many more are thought to have been sold by people cashing in on their popularity.
A panel of arbitrators appointed by the UN's World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) ruled that by using the domain names to sell the bracelets for profit CSA Marketing and Angeles had acted in bad faith.
'There is nothing, in short, to persuade the panel that the registration and use of the domain names was anything other than opportunistic and abusive conduct,' the panel concluded.
Under WIPO rules the domains must be handed over within 10 days unless the losers launch a legal appeal.
