I have signed up for a number of affiliate companies. I have some questions for those who are making money with affiliate marketing. Hope someone will know these things.

~ Do you tend to stick with one or two affiliate companies over using a bunch of different ones and if so why?

~ Do you focus on a few products or a bunch of products?

~ Do you find some companies seem more spammy with the type of banner ads they have? I clicked on one ad and a fake operator was offering me discounts!

~Is it better to pick products that pay out a lot or a bunch of products that pay a little.

Depends on what you're promoting and how you're promoting it and the business model for your site. Are you doing a reviews site? A storefront? Deals/coupons? A single niche product or a small topical niche?

Again, it gets back to your business model, but it's easier to focus on just a few.

Good for you for checking that out :tu:!

ALWAYS check out the landing page, google around about the merchant's reputation, and if you can, "test drive" their check out or sign up process before choosing to promote them!!

If the landing page is bad and their signup/checkout process is cumbersome then you can send them all the quality traffic in the world and you're still not going to convert well. As far as the reputation part, if they're cheating their customers, guess how they're going to treat YOU? And if what they're selling is cr*p, guess how that's going to reflect on YOUR site?

Just say no to slimey merchants and trashy products :).

~Is it better to pick products that pay out a lot or a bunch of products that pay a little.

What works for one person/site won't necessarily work for another. Try both, see what converts best. Once you get to know your niche, you'll find there's a "sweet spot" for your particular website.

Hope this helps!

This helps alot! I am developing a bunch of sister sites on different topics that appeal to women. Each site represents a different theme. For example beauty, diet, fashion etc.

So for example on the site that focuses on beauty topics. Do I promote a varitey of what I feel are top qualty products that tie in with the blogs? Or focus on just a few.

I would love tips as to how best to do affiliate marketing on the sites and I do want to offer quality information and quality products if someone reading the blog is interested in learning more.
