I am developing a few websites..each one has different focus, diet, fashion etc.
Am I best off using affiliate products to monetize or google adsense or both?

Do the affiliate product ads need to be changed frequently?

Is two or three times a week often enough for blogging?

Depends ...

Most merchants have at least one ad (like a logo ad) which they run forever.

Special offers and sales need to be updated, but SOMETIMES the merchant takes care of this automatically by changing things on their side so you don't need to update the code.

you should try both adsense and affiliate products, and then use whichever works best for each website. two or three times each week is great as long as the posts are high quality.

If your focus is selling affiliate products, or if you're trying to build a relationship with your visitors to sell them things in the future, you generally should NOT put adsense on the same page. You'll be sending would-be buyers off your site for a few cents when you could keep them there and earn dollars instead.

Every site is different - you can always split-test. Try just the affiliate links for a while, then try a blend and see which produces more revenue. However you need a decent amount of traffic for the results to be meaningful.
