Legal issues with typo domains

Title says it all really. If i was to register a domain with a typo in, such as google -> gooogle what are the legal implications of doing so?

Trademark infringement. I advise not to register a typo of a trademark. However, I do not see a problem registering typos of common generic terms. For example, "morgage" instead of "mortgage."

As i thought, google was a bad example really as i wasn't thinking about registering anything with a company name

How about book names or things like that?

Ok, here is what you do... use the search box and type in "trademark" then read each and every post for a week... then use that same search box and type in "tm" and read for another week (catch all the posts that do not have "trademark" in them. In your case, also type in "typo" and read some more.

Sorry, but if you get into this field, please read first and do research.. then if you have a question, then post it. You question has been covered in depth an umpteenth number of times.

lol, yeah, I tend to mispell alot, sorry about that. I am usually multitasking and don't double check myself.... I'll try to stop dong it from now on

domains.arbforum.com (type in any popular company and see all the decisions regarding typos.)

And for spelling, I still am horrible, but using FireFox2.0 really helps with its built in spell checker!

You can tell when I use Firefox and explorer. Work has explorer and not allowed to use Firefox. It is a really good feature.
