I’m dealing with an issue on a Lease to Own domain purchase through GoDaddy, and I’m hoping for some advice. After making the first payment, GoDaddy initially told me the transfer would take 38 to 50 hours to complete, allowing me to manage the DNS. Later, they sent a page stating it would actually take 5 to 7 days. Now we’re on day six, and the domain still hasn’t been unlocked for transfer to escrow, even though my funds are in escrow.

I’m based in Florida, and I already own several .coms around this name. My business also includes the .com name, so it’s important for branding. Given the domain owner’s history of raising the price after I bid, I’m concerned they might be stalling, hoping I’ll back out and they can raise the price again.

Has anyone faced a similar issue with GoDaddy or domain owners delaying a Lease to Own transfer? Any advice on how to push GoDaddy to follow through as promised would be incredibly helpful.

Thanks in advance for any insights!

In this case, since the registrar of this domain is not GoDaddy, you'll need to wait for the transfer to complete before GoDaddy allows you to manage the DNS. Is the domain status showing as 'pending transfer'?

they cant raise price now after sale but they had every right to negotiate offers with u before sale..which i assume is what u mean by raising prices before

now they cant raise price. they can of course not complete sale and get banned
and u or gd cant do anything about that.

other than this I'd start wondering after say 2 weeks. not 6 days.

Congrats on your purchase! In this case, we'll be waiting for the domain to be received from the seller. While we always aim for a fast transfer, there are occasions when we're waiting on the seller to initiate the transfer.

You can reach out to our support team at any time through godaddy.com/help/contact-us to check in on the progress of the transaction.

Thanks! No where in the lease terms did it say that I would be waiting on the seller to transfer the domain name. Also I suggest you correct the 38 to 50 something hour statement on your website as that’s false information.
