Tribune acquires valuable domain name, plans to offer customized email addresses.

Tribune Publishing Company, publisher of the L.A. Times, has acquired the valuable domain name LA.com.

The company has already created a landing page for the site, which invites visitors to enter their email address to be alerted when the site launches.

The domain name was acquired from MediaNews Group, part of Digital First Media. The company primarily operates newspapers.
