I noticed the no reserve auction for L7.com ended at only $60k and change. Seems very low for such a short .com name. I would think that Chinese investors would be all over that name and be willing to pay in the 6 figure range at least.

Who cares about Chips when it is about LN? All examples above were western and had nothing to do with Chinese pinyin...

L4.com would sell for $60K at least, as well...

The only discounted one would be probably 0, because it looks like o and it is hard to make something meaningful out of "nothing".

I like this domain, if i had the funds i would have bought it at $60k, stuck it in my portfolio and let it gather e-dust for 5 years or so and then sell for high 6 figures/low 7.

I think 60k are the sort of prices people was paying for NN domains around 2009ish, a lot of them now go for 7 figures - When you see what L7 can stand for (as people say lucky 7) and how good it looks visually i don't see how it can lose value unless .com itself crashes.

Its a big undersell. Dunno why this seems complex to some.

The problem is the guys that know the value of this did not have extra 60K+ to spend at the time )))

No reserve auction might end up with big sale or vice versa..

How much a name like L70 .com should sell after L7 .com sold for $60,000?

If you use the conventional wisdom about dividing by the number of characters in the next step, then $60,000/36 = 1,667$.

If you adjust for renewal fee PV, then around $1,470.

You could further adjust downwards for memorability, looks, brandability and auction price would be in $700-1,700$ range, depending on priorities and valuation skills, as well as level of optimism about end user sales from bidders.

L also looks like the number 1 which can cause some confusion. l7.com.

I know one of the registries can keep your letter capitalized for that purpose. So if I bought the name I'd make sure I'd move it there.

also, you'd make sure on your logo L is always capitalized. Bigger confusion would be from "L Seven", "EL Seven", "EL7" and for brand protection you could try to get as many of those as you can...

I had a buyer for this name, that was ready to pay even 6 figures for it, but he refused to bid because it was on Flippa. Unfortunately, the seller wasn't very smart either and quoted a mid 6 figure price when I asked him if we can discuss about a BIN. We could easily have done a deal together and he could have got so much more than this...

If it was in a private deal, my buyer would buy it for much more than $60000 any day.

Given time it will be A1.top

I know you mean it in a sarcastic way but in the same way you are right indeed (that's why I liked your post).
Unfortunately I am not the owner of A1.top
.top
fits much more better to A1 than any other TLD because...

...A will allways be interpreted as (something like) 'first', 1 the same, top the same - so
A / 1 / top could be seen as first / first / first.
This combo is really perfect.
