I get an email yesterday asking if I would consider selling a domain of mine that is parked... turns out it was a domain that I registered 2 years ago and totally forgot about it. It was set to expire in July this year and probably would have... but I ended up selling it for mid $xxx.

Felt like I reached in an old shirt pocket and found some money I forgot I stashed there...

Ha, very nice! I had that happen once as well on a name I would surely have let expire.

Great News...terrible management. :)

I am with you I need to find one registrar (or maybe 2) to manage my domains. I currently have names with:
GoDaddy, Fabulous, Register, Dynadot, Dotster, Enom, MelborneIT, Network Solutions, 1&1 and probably more I can't figure out yet.

I started out with one registrar myself, but I somehow ended up splitting domains across registrars.

Sometimes when you have a ton of domains, it's tough keeping track of them all even when you keep track of them all. :P I constantly forget about names I own, and the sad thing is it's generally names I LIKE a lot and not what would be deemed forgettable names. I've had BlogUSA (.com) for eons and have probably forgotten about it at least a few times, and I have no idea why because I've always liked it.

Anyways yea, that sounds similar to finding a $20 in a pair of pants that was in the laundry, change in the couch, etc., hehe.

Interesting analogy.
I'm a total plastic guy, hardly ever have cash on me at all. Hence,...i never find the $20 stashed in the pants pocket or change behind the couch cushion...or the long forgotten domain. Maybe i should try the whole cash thing....
