Keyword Density

What is an optimal keyword density. I say 9% my website designer says 3 -4.2%.

I personally think that we should not worry about keyword density at all. Content should be written for the users in mind and keywords will come in the content naturally. I never calculate keyword density.

If you want traffic from search engines I would say keyword density is not that important and nothing to worry about. It used to be before but now just work on getting backlinks from pages that relate to your site with your keywords as the anchor text.

If those sites in your signature are yours don't put the name of the site as the anchor text in the link because people won't be searching for "freewho" in Google they will be searching for "free whois search" or something similar.

Keyword density means the number of keywords that appears in your sites. That means the number of your selected keywords are shown by the search engines. So it is usual to think that the more one have much keyword the more his Page Rank will go high.

You designer is right.

9% density is too high and search engines can consider as keywords stuffing.

There is no limit to keyword, just aviod keyword stuffing and write for your vistors not for the SE

I've never concern about keyword density. Sometimes it makes our words on contents look ugly.

keyword density of 2% is high enough, and higher than that can be riskier being considered as keyword spamming. try keep it natural.

You should not worry about the keyword density if you're using your keyword after each 100 words in your article. If it is like this it is fine, using it in higher quantity wont have any effect except it'll look ugly. Make your keyword bold in your article at two or three places so it is prominent.

Most people and forums say 3-6% but then again I do not worry about it just write for your visitors...

But make the headline and the first Paragraph contain what you want to rank for..

I used to be concerned about the right keyword density (5 years ago) but after years of testing and the constant algorithm changes at the se's finding the right kw density is a waste of time these days. It's an old school on-page optimization factor that just doesn't mean squat.

If people spent more time trying to communicate with the user and not the se's their content would be likable and linkable. Links are the key - not keyword density.

Write for the user not the se's.
