I just received my first inquiry about one of my names, 5year(dot)com. This is one of my best names (picked it up from a droplist). The company requesting a price for it is a domaining company wanting it for resell, so I don't think that they're going to be willing to pay what it's worth.

What I would like to do is get them to make the first offer. Can someone give me a good example of what should be written to them to get that first offer? And how much would you say that this name is worth? TIA for all the help, it's appreciated!

this section is for appraisals, I think this post belongs in the discussion forum.

What is the domain? How much do you feel its worth?

Anyway if your feeling is that they won't pay what you think its worth then you most likely will not take their offer.

Use caution when you get an email like this. It sounds like it may be an appraisal scam.
I actually just got a new one about one of my names.. it looks like this:

Hello,

Your domain was listed for sale.

Please don't ask to make an offer. Just send an email with your quote
in US dollars for the name mentioned in the subject line.

Our company is working on custom software and hardware projects for
several large corporation. Domain names is not our business but a new way
to earn on reselling. We are going to buy domains to resell them at
higher prices since we have a large database of clients interested in good
domains.

Looking forward to do business with you.

Anyways, these guys will ask you to quote a price.. after that, they will request you use an appraisal service trusted by them, and dissapear after you pay for an appraisal.

Hopefully this is not an appraisal scam, if not.. then quote him a fair price... or a little higher than your looking for even, and let him work you down to your price..

Good Luck!

If they ask for an appraisal from "one of their trusted appraisal sources" then I would say bye bye...scam.

Well, first I do think that it belongs here for the appraisal, as I would like to know what some seasoned professionals think it's worth (and this section is titled appraisals, so I'm pretty darn sure I'm in the right place.) As far as the domain name, goodness, it's in the first line of my thread, lol! Does anyone have some thoughts on actually appraising it? TIA

If you are still interested in seling please send your quote and I will consider it with my partners.

Domain names is not our business but a new way to earn on reselling. We are going to buy domains to resell them at higher prices since we have a large database of clients interested in good domains.
