what research told you to buy that phrase? I messed up as well on my first go around but you said you did research. So im curious what told you THAT was the domain to get?

Well my reason for buying that phrase was because i got the impression the best way to go about finding a decent name was to get two words that had some sort of meaning to each other. Also i was trying to think of who that name might have some value too , and i read about how more americans are living longer but how a larger percentage of them are using wheelchairs and how that is predicted to increase. So i figured my name might of had value to wheelchair making companys which there are sure to be more of in the future if what i read turns out to be right(which i think i will be )

You might see my reasoning or you might think im idiot based on that

Already made a list ;) how would you suggest i go about it , just find out who owns the relevant sites and email them ?

Also would you say my method of choosing this name would be a decent way to go about things in the future?

Not something I would buy (but others would), at first glance it looks like a TM but it's not from taking a look at TESS, so it could be a brandable for somebody, it's what it sounds like to me. And at reg fee, it's really not much of a risk. Will be interested to see if you can sell it to somebody.

So how much should i be looking to get for this ?

Have no idea, brandables can be all over the place. This site posts some end user sales every now and then, a new post today - http://domainnamewire.com/2012/10/24/40-end-user-domain-sales/

Maybe low x,xxx, you can try at that to start, you might not sell it all or maybe just a little above what you paid for it, which would be better than most people's first domain purchase. Even if you just sold it at $16, you doubled your money. Email a few people, tell them you're accepting offers on it. See if you get any bites, go from there.

just one last thing , if it sold would it be a good idea to start buying up similar wheelchair related domains ?
How do things like that often turn out ?

Hold off on buying similar domains. See what you can do with Wheelchair USA before you attempt to become the go-to guy for anyone in need of a wheelchair-related domain.

I think it's a nice brandable, although I don't share JB's level of optimism. The problem with marketing wheelchairs is that despite the fact that it's a pretty big business, relatively few people shop for them at retail -- most of the marketing is B2B between manufacturers and medical institutions/insurance companies/etc. But it still is not something I'd just grace delete; it's not a bad first domain and even if you don't make much with it, the learning experience is valuable.

The best way to valuate domains that are hand regged is to subtract 2x price paid in registration cost. So using that math you will be able to readily value most hand regged domains. The trick to domaining is to either add value (that's the D word) or find bargains in the aftermarket and flip, flip, flip. Think of domains just as you would the latest iPhoneยฎ. On average, they'll be going down in value year after year.

In addition, it's best to have realistic profit expectations. So if you invest $1000.00, you should be looking "best case average" for a $1500 return. If you can do that consistently, you will have become one of the best domainers in all the land. My best guess is that 90% of domainers lose money year after year. This is due to unrealistic expectations, renewal rot, lack of development skills, and psychological domain attachment.

A street beggar has better odds at making a profit than does the best of domainers. All the street beggar needs is a cup, a coat, and a wittily worded cardboard sign to fly. End of tonight's story.

Oh...and best of luck Luke! And don't forget to use the FORCEโ„ข!

The people that own usawheelchair.com would be your type of enduser. "Mobility" and "Scooter" probably the branding words in todays world. Not bad but feels like it will take a long time to get out of the position and when you do you will be sooo ready to take the lowball offer.

regfee

The best thing to do with this name is to use it as a learning tool. Tell yourself you will not buy another domain name until you sold this one. Goodluck.

Best thing in my opinion is to just find an interested party, get them to make the first price offer, accept it, then think about your next name. This is the first name flip/dump name method

All of this of course if you decide not to ask for a refund, which I feel very much on the table. Goodluck
