Well it all started 2 months ago.
My dad is working in a company as a manager and some guys who work under him were selected for a job in UK. With nice salary and perks.
They told my dad that there is also a vacancy for him over there. So my dad asked me should I leave you and family here. I said yes we are fine. Go make a trip.
He did applied for the job.
Now my dad is not so good at internet stuff so he told me that if there is some emails in his inbox can I please check and let him know what it is about.
I said okay. I will help you open your emails and all stuff.
The company asked for the certificates and all stuff and in between my dad also had applied in other companies. They had also replied with positive answers.
For somedays I was reading whatever was written in emails and was replying whatever my dad was telling me to do. I was not much interested in the conversation as it made no meaning to me all about engineering and stuff.
But for god knows what reasons. I thought to check the email address in google and, the very first result I saw was titled 419 Scam :D
I told my dad that leave it. Forget it and go to sleep. Case closed. But he was bewildered. He was asking me what happened. I tried to explain things to him. That this guys are giving good job opportunities and have told that they will pay all the expense of paper work in 72 hours of you going there but You will never go there and you will never see your money of paper work back. Because there are no lawyers who are doing any work this are all scammers.
It took me 2 hours to explain him and he was shocked :]
I told him to tell his workers too about it so that they don't send any money to this guys. He said okay.
Today he came back and said Yes that company was a scam but today he has got 2 very reputed companies offers. Now his resume is in many agencies in many countries so I didn't doubted it. I said okay lets see. They had sent forms and contracts and all. [LOL they were really looking good though]
After I did all that my father wanted me to do. I again started a check and didn't found anything bad this time. So thought I am just getting too much excited about it.
Then I thought let me visit the sites of this companies. So I visited the sites of the companies from which this emails were coming. It was all good.
Then again I thought as a developer how much time would I need to create this kind of site. Anyone can make a site. So I wanted to check more.
I checked WHOIS of the site. Nothing there.
I was about to give up when I also saw that the 2nd company also had a valid site with all contact info and all emails matching the Departments etc.
I checked its WHOIS too
But then I saw one thing :o that this both sites were hosted on same server. So I rechecked the WHOIS. And found that both domain name were registered in 2008. Just 1 month ago. :p
And then I found that both companies have same owner name in WHOIS. :D
Two very huge corporations. Well known ones are sharing same office and same phone number?
So I told my dad to just stay away from Internet and from now onwards I will have to take care of his internet activity.
He said that his workers already got a contract from this company and they have even paid 40,000 INR each [Which is around 1000 USD] to them.
What I want to do is now report this Invalid WHOIS so that the domain name itself is thrown in trash can and this scammers lose all the contacts with their victims. Because I don't know who else is getting scammed and from where.
Any other ideas then let me know
I haven't posted the Companies names here because I know they are well known companies and their name is just being used by this scammers.
