I recently registered NewJerseyCity.TV to support Jersey.TV video website. In your humble opinion, which you prefer to use as main site?

Jersey.TV or NewJerseyCity.TV and why?

Share your thought, thanks in advance.

.US domains.US domains
Jersey.tv

Shorter, better brand.

However, it might cost you more to keep.

Jersey.tv is considerably more valuable than Newjerseycity.tv
Jersey.tv = $x,xxx imo
newjerseycity.tv = $xx to reg fee

If your doing a site about New Jersey, go with Jersey.tv
If your doing a site about Jersey City, NJ, go with NewJerseyCity.tv

you seem to be a web coder, designer so i would say do jersey.tv and even though its 1k a year to keep it could be a nice platform...

your saving the money on the development expense if you do this yourself, be a nice portal.... are you located there? being local has many advantages to seek advertising dollars imo... running a geo.tv name and not living there faces many challenges and budgets imo... im still learning this geo phase and rookie at heart... i still do not know what to do with my small geo but thats only 250 a year to keep.

now due to tough economic times, yearly fees on names and not knowing details on many variables only you can be the judge on things...

Slowly concentrating in development of my small geo sites. I'm currently busy with other geo and after that, development for Jersey.TV or NewJerseyCity.TV. I might go to Jersey.TV for short domain and will redirect the new jersey city domain. I'm aiming tomorrow night or this weekend.

Just finished (well 80% I think) for www.ManassasPark.com website, in parallel of other work in progress. I have a small geo network here in Virginia.

I'd keep both but use Jersey.tv as your main url.
NewJerseyCity.tv is too long & difficult to brand but may be of use to you in the future if you want to do a side project to jersey.tv & focus on a certain area/feature of the City.

For now Keep both but redirect the long domain to Jersey.tv

When do you expect to have Jersey.tv up & running, i'll be curious ot see which areas you are focusing on & what your main features will be (I love looking & discussing new Geo .tv ideas right now, so many options at an exciting time for Geo .tv)

You should come over to development.tv, many Geo owners over there have been working on their developments.

Good Luck,
ROnnie

Hey there:

Being in NYC, I think Jersey.tv is great!

If you had JerseyCity.tv that would be a good grab too for the folks who take the PATH Train (jokes). NewJerseyCity.tv is a bit awkward IMO for "Jersey City."

Jersey isn't a city - its slang. And new jersey city is too long.

Its like saying "york" or "losangelescity".

I'd sell them both and buy "new jersey. tv"

I guess this is the best suggestion so far and we think the same.

The site should be up this weekend, patching some contents.

With the price of "new jersey .tv", I will stick to jersey.tv. I want this project in a low operating cost, and the current cost is acceptable.

Great, Good Luck with it.
I really cannot wait to see lots of the Geo .Tv's that have been in development for a while launch over the course of 2009.

Are you developing Jersey.tv into a Ning site?

Keep both and redirect. In the case of jersey.tv, less is more and in the US Jersey is a valid term(for the state of New Jersey.

I will use CMS website, and plug-in NING for community still testing some feed setup at this time.

I might use the free service available to use fresh content for the community.

The portal will include some services such as email @jersey.tv, travel, airfare, hotels, etc. to generate revenue.

Still testing ... moving slow but surely.

Jersey.TV definitely.

Living in NJ I would say Jersey.tv is the much better option. I always refer to NJ as Jersey so the locals will be able to relate. As for NewJerseyCity.tv, it really doesn't make much sense. I would drop it when renewals come around.

actually i belive jersey is a colloqialism, commonly used and universally recognized in the region. either jersey or newjersey should work equally well for a state-related site. colloqialisms work but you cant just take some part of a name and think itll pass. you couldnt get away with using york for new york, it just isnt used. but if i had a choice between losangeles and la i'd take la everytime.

but newjerseycity? what is that?
