I was a bit surprised to see that it was available, as petro everything else has gone. The whois showed that it was available, but as soon as I registered it, it flipped to taken and stated that some other party had owned it since 2006. I've changed the dns, and it shows my server index, so it looks as if I have control. So what's going on?

The other question is - have I mis-spelt ruble?

I'll leave the political chat about this for the other board.

You have ruble correct, but usually "petro[currency]" is a pejorative term for a country's currency that is heavily dependent on oil/gas. Could work as a news/analysis site but otherwise limited value, in my view. Are you thinking about developing it?

I'm not sure. I've got so much on at the moment that I might try to sell it. It might help me to get some traction for the auction/listing site.
btw I reg'd petrorouble.com as well, because I'm still not sure which is the best one to use.

This is quite interesting. Ruble ( the correct spelling) has more than twice as many pages reported by Google than Rouble ( the western spelling). But Google trends reports many more searches for Rouble.

Estibot values PetroRuble.com at $45, and PetroRouble.com at $0, but based on the search trends, I would have thought that the Rouble name was the more valuable one.
