lol,

What a load of bullshit... lol

Honestly, if you see your child talking to friends in funny looking characters, so called "1337", you know your kid has some sort of mental problem. Anyone who has conversations in leet needs a good talking to lol.

lol, they call it a code... More like an artists view of letters - pretty easy to figure out what letters are what.

Sorry, I just hate people who think they're cool from talking in 1337 talk :), can't stand it.

"It's a potentionally dangerous code designed to keep parents in the dark"

No, no it's not.

Also, those that watched it all, will realise these reporters contradict themselves.

I only ever use "leet speak" in humour, even my hardcore gamer friends don't use "leet speak" in general conversation.

That's funny. They make it sound like it was only created to confuse parents.

And most of what they posted isn't "leet speak" -- those are acronyms (acronyms I've never heard of).

Maybe if they did this report about two years ago when a lot of younger internet users used "leet speak" it might be a very slight concern.

It's not even hard to "decode". In that report, they didn't even explain how they use similar characters for common letters. They said a "7" stands for a "T", which made it sound like there was something that had to be decoded with a decoder ring.

Give me a break.

Ahh, dont you just hate how they over-exaggerate everything?

I almost never use l33t, only when I am being very, very informal on guild wars, and even then, only if someone else starts first.

I do however, use acronyms a lot, mainly lol.

It is pretty standard. Wow, does that mean I am no longer leet. That like 10 year old kids can now be "leet". Last time I checked that is ridiculous.

NIFOC = Naked In Front Of Computer (which I've never heard of until hearing this article; it could also mean typing with one hand)

Gee, I wonder if a kid's parents would notice if their child was naked in front of the computer. Good thing there's an anti-parent secret code for that.

Nobody knows what GYPO means.

GYPO - Get Your Pants Off

It's sad how they portray this ridicualous langueage, but I guess you can't expect anything else from today's media.
