They are well known to many, good article here if you're interested.

I'm still very surprised they owned so much rubbish, I guess it's probably from some of their big portfolio buyouts.

These guys got cash funding from Perot, Maveron. They have many million dollar names generics like Jeans.com, so on.

Could it be a publicity stunt, or something similar?

Instead of paying $50,000 to advertise at the side of forums and get a few clicks, they're getting every domainer interested and aware of their presence.

There's a chance they're taking the loss of the money from the LLL.com's as "advertising money" because that's essentially what they're doing. I'd never heard of ireit before, and now i know. All because of this....

There's a chance, isn't there? :D

My initial thoughts exactly. I actually saw this on Afternic and thought
the prices was some lame joke.

Guess the jokes on me.
I'll never slip up again. ;)

I believe this was in fact an error, not a publicity or marketing gimmick. I will speak with iReit on Monday to confirm.

Well if it was an error, good for them, hopefully it has marketed them well. Wish ireit the best

Great word of mouth, their cost factor is probably less than $500 on each sold domain, but you have thousands of people now scouring your ads, and that kind of exposure is priceless. I even spent 10 minutes looking, you see potential, but squint a little closer, and the domains are sometimes missing a end letter, or whatever. Domains that sell for $50 on this site, they are trying to sell for $1200.....

I was this close to picking up illusons.com, which I thought said "illusions" -- ironic, eh?

I did a double take on that one & then had to spell it out loud.

Will they revert back all those sales ?

Anyone interested in a full list of what they own ?

iReit said it was an error.
They could not back out - they were in a legally binding contract.
Enough said...

I considered WaterTablets.com at $500 went back a few hours later after work and it is now $1200 no BIN

Anyone who camps knows you need water tablets :) Or a lot of toilet paper

WaterTablets may have been a good pick up.. They are essential when backpacking.

For those who are interested I have parsed the zone file (.com only) and compiled a list of all domain names using Ireithost as name servers.
Result: 160K domains.

PS: do your research. I see that some names have names other than Ireit in whois so maybe they are owned by other parties.

Enjoy :)
