Crazey!

Its funny to see these prices as I had put an offer in for athletes-foot.com the other day and this is the response I got.

Hello,

I hope this email finds you well. Due to the premium nature of this domain, offers below $5,000 will not be accepted at this time. If you are still interested, the next step would be to evaluate the domain and provide you a retail price. Please let me know if you would like to proceed or if you have any other questions. I can be reached at (713) 874-9737.

I look forward to hearing from you soon, have a great day!

Regards,

Doubt IREIT is hardup for cash------------------------------> these are some of the partners of the company,,,, they own close to 500,000 domains.

Starbucks Chairman Howard Schultz, billionaire Ross Perot and Richard Rosenblatt, former chief executive of MySpace and its parent, Intermix Media, are just three of those attempting to build sprawling businesses around Web domains.

Yeah, but they hire low-wage people with no domain experience. (Well, I guess that is obvious).

I was talking on the phone with a rep for a top ten registrar this morning. A very nice, intelligent lady. She mentioned they had a special on .Mobi running. I told her that the price was higher than I was paying, thanks anyway. Then she asked me what .mobi was for.

They do not train these people at all! A wonder this kind of thing does not happen more often.

And yes, IREIT gains some rep in my mind for following through on the agreements, even though the listings were a mistake. Seems they value their company's good name.

I had purchased one of the $500 names about 30 minutes before they changed to $1,200 each,
Will my purchase go through?.....

After trawling through 30+ pages of the $500 ones, only a couple caught my eye

taxiis.com
taxbot.com

and even then just for development...

IReit is a large company. And even when a large company makes a mistake in listing their inventory, they have to follow through on the sale, for the sake of their reputation.

Thats the difference when you trade with companies. They have a reputation to protect; they'd rather lose 50k than risk their reputation.

Imagine the bad press if the sales hadn't gone through

Lol

Nobody really knows what .mobi is for, even the people selling them
:D

Can't believe the insane prices that they sold those names for! D-:

Just searched their list of names but can't find anything good. :( They seem to own a lot of crap names though.

I think an inexperienced staff member knocked off a zero when he listed them because he presumed it was a typing error.

If that's the case, I'm sure that he/she will get his/her ass fired!

Since I'm only 2 hours away from Bangkok, I'm gonna hunt him down and demand that he releases the domains to me immediately. :kickass: :bingo: :D

Could it be a publicity stunt, or something similar?

Instead of paying $50,000 to advertise at the side of forums and get a few clicks, they're getting every domainer interested and aware of their presence.

There's a chance they're taking the loss of the money from the LLL.com's as "advertising money" because that's essentially what they're doing. I'd never heard of ireit before, and now i know. All because of this....

There's a chance, isn't there? :D
