Notice how many "refused" for the same source, in the short period of time. And there is one currently still in progress, from one of the same sources.

It could possibly be reserved for some purpose of the nic.it. I've seen similar things happen when I've tried to register other ccTLD domains as well, for example - ver.de

Thats basically the drop "catchers" trying to all become the first one to get the name that expired.

But this name, along with a couple others I've been watching, have been available for days, weeks, or months, according to registration checks. That's why I don't understand... everyone continues to be rejected when trying to register.

Why are they rejecting the registrations...

both names were deleted.
When a .it get deleted you need to wait 30 full days before registering it again.
The strange thing, in this case, is that even after the 30 days they are still refusing it.
I'm going to try to reg it myself so I can phone the nic and tell you why they are rejecting requests.

Its a random process after 30 days. They then choose a random day after 30 when they will actually take the first application of the day and accept it.

aldwin and damitssam, thanks for posting. This is interesting stuff, and a bit unusual.

Anyway, it appears Hot.it and also Copy.it have both finally been approved and re-registered. The same source got thru to get them both. :gl:

Scroll down, near the bottom, you will see a green line of text, "registered".

Watch the date, they probably had some delay in updating the table.
