I noticed some funkiness with bidder numbers on a couple of different auctions at GoDaddy Auctions. I always assumed that Bidder # shown during auctions was assigned based on the order in which bids were placed. When I couldn't reconcile this with a recent auction, I asked GoDaddy to explain how the Bidder numbers are assigned for each auctions. A GoDaddy representative told me, "there have been some inconsistencies in the bidder assignment numbers during the live auction."
I don't think this had an impact on auction results, but I also don't like when there are unresolved issued like this on a platform I use regularly.
In my opinion, it’s time for GoDaddy to start showing bidder nicknames on auctions just like other domain auction platforms.
My article about this, along with the entire response from GoDaddy is here: https://domaininvesting.com/inconsistencies-in-the-bidder-assignment-numbers-at-godaddy-auctions/
