Is Xmas a bad time for Sedo Auctions?

What do you guys think?
I have a few bids that If I begin the auction, they will end on the 25th and 26th of December.
Wont many prospective buyers be otherwise occupied, or not on their computers for auctions during this time?

Thanks for your opinions.

I think that Christmas is a bad time for any kind of business not related to holidays or shopping. If you list it on auction and it ends on the 25th with no more bids than the current one, than you are no worse off than if you never listed it for auction at all. I don't see much downside, considering that we can't pick our start times.

If someone wants your domain they will bid to win no matter what day or time

I would think it would be a good time depending on what you are selling. If its a good name and they want to get it for a present then im sure they might even pay more than what you think it would go for. Although alot of people over the holidays go broke over they holidays all that money goes somewhere and some people cash in and may want to spend that moeny ASAP. There is always room for oppourtunity, but in my opinion sales are slow over the holidays.

Usually, in this period of time you won't get much attention from resellers but, as said above, an interested end-user will contact you no matter when! :imho:

a good solid name needs s much exposure as possible.
I finally opted not to go the auction road during this season, as it seems IMO that many possible end users (big companies) will not be paying as much attention during the holidays.
If I go to the auction, I will probably attract the initial buyer, and ver few others bidders.
Thank you all for your input, any further advice is much appreciated.

well i've listed a domain of mine @ premium auction on sedo.
it seems to be attracting bidders.

good thing i noticed was mine is the only one word generic .net / .com available to bid on. its the only premium listed also (in bold) and is listed as the first entry.
All this becoz not many people are selling during this time :)

Must say its getting its due bids, and seems to be picking up.
will update you on how it went after 4 days (when this thing ends :))

I had an offer on one on of domains on Sedo this morning. Normally I might have been tempted to send it to auction with a low offer. Today I just countered high. The market is thin enough that just a few people not bidding can make a big difference to your end price.

well the thing is, when it comes to a very premium name, the odds for going to an auction at this particular time seem to be not so good.
I am talking as in an initial offer well over $10K.
These type of names need a maximum possible exposure, and to me it looks like this may not be the time, unless you take a great risk in accepting the auction and the initial bid

are you saying this time is better, as in higher $ probability?
