So today I wake up to a NamePros moderator warning for unsolicited advertising for a domain name that I submitted to @Recy in their request for a baby themed domain name: (Yes I'm pissed! >:()
Request thread below:

https://www.namepros.com/conversations/re-looking-for-a-domain-for-a-baby-themed-site.2760597/

I Direct Message my submission below: (I submit 1 out of my 1,500 names)
KIDAW.com

Short memorable pronounceable brandable

Thanks! Steve

In my defense the name was submitted for a baby themed site for the following reason:

Kidaw.com
The word Kid is defined as:
noun
1.
Informal. a child or young person.
The word aw:
interjection
2.
(used to express sentimental or sugary approval.)
(Source: Dictionary.com)

So, while it may not suit the solicitor's taste, is the name that far fetched that they would report me for unsolicited advertising. First off, it was solicited by the OP. Is responding to a request with one name that must have taken the OP at least 2 seconds out their life, to read, considered unsolicited advertising, because the OP doesn't like the name or understand the meaning? Should I write this off as a new user @Recy being too over zealous or have I been a victim of a new form of hidden subversive trolling?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I do not see how its unsolicited advertising when the poster solicited the request :)

Thanks for the headsup - I was going to submit my podwrap.com name, but I think I had better give it a miss. :)

I like the name. You are not wrong for submitting the name

I don't see why it was flagged as unsolicited.

Not trolling, @Eric Lyon
How is replying to a domain wanted thread, with a relevant name, worthy of a warning?

Hello,

Looking over this matter I can see that the original wanted thread specified they wanted a baby domain for a themed website project. The moderator handeling the report sent the warning for the following reason: It should be noted that the domain sent had the word "Kid" in it followed by 2 random letters. An infant, baby, toddler, kid, and child represent different stages in a humans life. A "kid", is generally seen as older than a baby. If a site project is targetng baby's only, then the word "kid" would not fit in their target demographics.

This is also more than likely why the domain got reported.

I hope that helps clarify,

Thank you for the clarification ,I still think its unwarranted for a poster to report something this trivial in my opinion ,I will be very careful in replying to certain requests ,this obviously hurts the person requesting as they will be very limited with choice . :)

Buyer may not like the domain, but it is NOT report-worthy.

Then the OP should have stipulated this in their request, "Please don't send any names with the words, kid, child, teen, infant, toddler, brat, newbie, fetus, human, person, people, newborn, tot, etc. Just BABY"

that the domain sent had the word "Kid" in it followed by 2 random letters.

As explained earlier, the 2 so-called random letters were aw, which according to dictionary.com means:
Aw
interjection
2.
(used to express sentimental or sugary approval.)

But really? A warning for unsolicited advertising? Seems way out of line to me, and I think will have a chilling effect on people sending DM's for Names Wanted!

@TheDot.shop
You have the option to leave a "Negative Review" on their profile.... just saying. :)

Thanks, but I'm a tit guy, not a tit for tat guy! :xf.wink:

just so I don't get another warning:

tit1
tit/
noun
noun: tit; plural noun: tits
  1. a titmouse.
    • used in names of birds similar or related to the titmouse, e.g., New Zealand tit.
noun: New Zealand tit; plural noun: New Zealand tits

Hi

you know, the family next door has two kids

one is seven years old, the other is 3 months old

just saying....

but i also want to state that, i have no problem if someone reports submissions that do not meet clearly defined criteria.

though this brings up another thought

if/when a moderator responds to such reports and defines the submission in such a meticulous fashion,
then or if that definition does not match exactly with the OP's initial criteria....

then,
maybe no warning should not be given or the OP's thread should be edited to include that defining criteria, and the person who was reported should have opportunity to "withdraw" their submission.... "due to failure of OP to clearly define their criteria", and they should be required to include any keywords they don't want, so others will know.

imo....

@TheDot.shop
Steve, I got your message and was alerted to this post. I want to say that I'm a man that stands up when I make mistakes. I honestly didn't mean to report that post, and obviously didn't know I did. And, my sincerest apologies. Yesterday I was sent a slew of totally irrelevent names including ones that included desks, priests, cash, tech, etc. In going through all of those, I may have reported the wrong PM, and if I did I hope a moderator can resolve this as this one was a mistake.

I hope there was no consequences and if there was I ask that the moderators can correct anything.
@Eric Lyon can you assist?

Once again- my apologies to the moderators and Steve for clicking the wrong PM.

@TheDot.shop I thought I had PM'ed you back and asked you the price of the domain and I apparently was on the wrong thread. I do like the domain and if there are not hard feelings for my mistake I'd be interested in discussing price.

Thanks @Recy, that thought did cross my mind, that it was a mis-report, but it was a combination of the report and then the NP warning that angered me. I appreciate you taking the time to apologize and try to rectify the situation. Apology accepted! No harm done! Thanks again! Steve

P.S. There's nothing to see here people, move along!

In addition to my post here, I also send a message to the mods on the live chat. Lesson learned that I need to be more careful trying to multi-task. Once again- my apologies and I appreciate not escalating the situation.

Thanks for sorting it out guys! I was this close to reporting my mail man, you know, the guy who brings me the snail mail, for bringing me unsolicited mail, you know the coupon clutter from the neighboring stores etc? But occasionally, he brings in decent regular mail as well. So all good!

So laugh it up people. As someone said, life is too short:xf.grin::xf.grin::xf.grin:

As it happens @Recy I also have these names but did not include them as they didn't fit your criteria, as they are not .com's.

BabyBoutique.Shop
TheBabyBoutique.Shop
TheBabyBox.Shop
TheNewBaby.Shop
