Is there any harm using Snapnames?

Forgive me if this has been discussed prior, but I was reading the Snapnames homepage and it seems it costs 60 buck to backorder and you must give your credit card number out. If the name is not aquired it goes into a private action and I am assuming you could decline to go any further, is this correct? Has anyone used this service and been successful aquiring a nice domain name for just 60 dollars because there was no competition?

Hi, I think snapnames offers a good service and there's always the "slim" chance you are the only person after the name.

The good thing is that snapnames DO NOT CHARGE YOU unless they get you the name - The worst thing is alot of people use it that have a large budget so I would'nt expect to get any "top quality" names unless you can pay a few thousand ! - But you can always HOPE :)

I have got about 7 dropped names (for $60) where I was the only person who backordered.

But of course, anytime that you are the only one that bids on the domain, you most likely will get it for $60, but that probably means you overpayed by $50+. ;)
that's the only drawback, :imho:

You might also consider to use other backorder services like pool.com and namewinner.com

There are a lot of big players on snap names, so like gazzip said, if it's a decent name don't expect to be on your own.
