Hello,

I was reading the sticky on finding potential end users and the more I read, the less desirable this trade became to me. I thought that in this business the buyer comes to you. Please tell me that most of you don't rely on solicitation to sell your names.

Finding good names is time consuming enough.

I think you will meet much more success in actively promoting your domains to end users rather than waiting for them to come to you. You will sell more domains and get better prices.

How often do we buy something as a result of an email? Finding potential end user contacts is a lot of work. Based on personal experience I view it as a waste of time. When someone wants to buy a domain and you have the keywords they want and the price they are willing to pay, you are much more likely to make a sale. If you already have a computer or tv or sofa or bed or car or home which is suitable, how effective is direct marketing likely to be to convince you to buy a new one?

It's nice hearing that from someone who has obviously found success in this trade. I just hope most of that 10k you've donated hasn't come from your domain selling efforts.. that would be a bummer for me:laugh:

so most of your buyers have found you... how long does it take normally?

You could theoretically wait for buyers to come to you, but it usually only happens if you have REALLY great names. Although WhoIS is a tool domainers use everyday, most people out there don't have a clue about looking up a domain name to see who the owner is. And you'd be limiting yourself if that was the only access you were giving people to your names.

A certain amount of exposure is necessary. You may be sitting on a fantastic, premium name, but if nobody knows about it and it isn't advertised anywhere, how are they supposed to find it?

I think you have to hit it from a variety of angles - list on a variety of marketplaces, have a company site where you can direct people to a small list of relevant names, and get the word out. Emailing individual end-users takes a LOT of time, but it's really the only way to let some of those targeted companies know that your name exists. They can't buy it if they don't know it's there, and up for grabs.

I suppose that is not good idea to push on someone at all. That is good idea to make someone more intersted in what you are trying to offer for them.
