Is it just me or does it seem there are no premium domains appearing in the Godaddy auctions?

Does Godaddy keep the ultra premium domains out of the auctions.

Don't get me wrong, I do see reasonably OK domains in the GD auction sometimes, but could somebody tell me if they keep the very best domains for themselves to sell in another way?

Now that you asked, it does seem very strange that out of tens of millions of domains under them no expiring premium keywords in last few months. That should be statistically impossible given that there are quite a few on drops on NJ, Snapnames etc.

Do you mean expiring auctions? Cause awesome, premium domains rarely expire.

They also rarely get sent to public auctions on platforms full of resellers. There are just better ways to sell premium domains.

Premium names do expire often. People don't keep track of them, pass away without bringing in their families on their domain holdings and how to run them, their value etc. Just check on GD how many 5N.coms starting with 77 came up simultaneously. Someone just left $xx,xxx without taking care of it for sole benefit of GD. And there used to be regular supply of premium keywords, LLLs, NNNNs as well, but no more, which is statistically weird. And, yes, their might be better ways, but GD has declared that they don't compete with their own clients in this. GD auctions would lose lots of customers if it would be fact that GD picks up cream before making it available for others to bid.

Ah ok i guess it just depends what you mean by premium.

In the case of 5N.com they've been getting snapped up for ages in exp auctions and most if not all will be in the hands of investors who aren't going to let them drop.

Supply has run out. Same for LLL etc. Yeah every now and then one is gonna slip through but it'll happen less and less.

I would call 5N and numerics in general an anomaly. They are only premium to those "in the know", and they're only a fairly recent phenomenon.

So very true, and the thing is, I think everyone you ask will have a different definition of what they consider "premium".

I was trying to make that point in my post and you just did it 1 million times better :)

I think the OP needs to clarify what they mean by premium and ultra premium. What sort of domains were you seeing that aren't there anymore?

Still seems odd that their are never any really excellent domains available like there are on some of the other platforms

Forget about numbers and LLLL's, etc. - there are just not many good domains with words that make real sense, and in the proper order. Where are the single word premium domains. Surely some should make it to the GD auctions.

The ones that your seeing on namejet aren't expiring auctions. I've bought a lot in the last year from exp auctions and I can honestly say I've never seen an ultra premium domain drop.

I think a 3N.com did drop last year but there some legal issues that caused it.

I mean the kind of premium domains that fetch decent bux. Maybe like the domains we here about on Dsherpa all the time.

I see a lot of domains of similar to the ones mentioned by the sherpas on Godaddy auctions.

I don't mean the investor submitted domains, or necessarily the namejet list. I am referring to the type of domains the sherpas recommend buying.

I realize most can not compete on their level, but lately I have not been able to find any domains on GD auctions even approaching the quality discussed by the sherpas.

I just had a quick glance and admittedly it's not a vintage batch right now. Sometimes they can't find much on Namejet for the shows though.

I agree, everyone has their personal definition of premium.

I consider premium the ones that within one week can easily sell for $1K+ and super premiums are the ones that would sell for $10K+ within one week of posting on any popular platform.

I believe one of the big mistakes we make as domainers is spending too much time trying to find five-figure names in the expiring domains lists. 99.9% of domains which are expiring are expiring for very good reason. Sometimes I will run an aged .COM filter and am shocked to see that someone actually renewed all that %^&#! for ten years.

Most of the best domains are in the hands of other investors. That does not mean spam Rick Schwartz offering him $50 for his one-word twenty-year old registrations. But you may find some deals by offering fair buy prices (but still leaving adequate upside profit) in the names wanted section.

Fair enough, but really, the GD auctions lists really do not have the kinds of domains we are talking about. How can that be explained? Where are they? GD is the largest registrar in the world. They, more than any other site, should have some decent domains expiring. Come on!
