Is Ionos Going Private, So To Speak?

I contacted Ionos asking how to make my 24 domain names with them public, as l’m more than willing to risk spamming and robo calls to let possible buyers easily see how to contact me.

Here is part of the reply I received. Does it mean what l think it means?

WHOIS information is now private by default. This is due to the General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR. Since we offer services to countries in the European Union and are a German based company, we need to be compliant with this policy. It's basically all about data protection.
