It is odd, and I didn't even know what a Barl was lol. Judging by the available links its a misspelling or Barrel, but man that is some really bad spelling. Either that or there is a tremendous interest in joining the British Amateur Radio Lighthouse Society, who knew?

You are not missing anything. You just mentioned only 2 ways for a domain to have traffic, ie. searches and backlinks... how about type-ins? how about old bookmarks? how about typo-ins?

what I'm saying is, the only way to learn how a domain is getting traffic is to ask the current owner for a detailed analysis of the domain's traffic. In your example's case, you can ask the owner for a Bodis screenshot where it will show where exactly the traffic is coming from

Using google adwords there should not be any significant typein. I have about 100 domains and in all of them the typein traffic is more less consistent with exact search.TLD in adwords (blabla.com).

I will ask the owner for more info. But this domain is pulling my head.

Something else to think about: You can buy traffic to a domain name to inflate numbers.
