This story starts with DNF; a barren wasteland that once was a leading forum within the domain industry. While the forum itself played a huge role in propagating the myth that is Adam Dicker, the story really begins with DNF College in the summer of 2011.

These are in no particular order.

From what I understand, Adam still owes north of $33,000 to previous customers and business partners. As I receive more information, I will update this figure.

Straight off his website at DNFcollege.com http://www.dnfcollege.com/about-us/

So why is Adam doing this because “Not enough people pay it forward and that’s what we are on the planet for, to make someone else’s life better.”

I guess not.

Not to be a party pooper but does anyone else realise this forum is not closed, all comments can be seen in search pages, and the man being spoken about has A FAMILY..
Shouldn't this post be made a bit more private? Or does no one here seem to care about the feelings of kids? In a world of online bullying can you imagine how it might be for them?? Am I the only one going to mention that? From what I see this post coincides too closely with the domain conference in Florida ending and "so called" awards being handed out.
The domaining industry as a whole has a bad reputation yet when that is mentioned people go all hush hush about it with nothing further being mentioned.
Seriously ....Unless you have a valid complaint yourself It might be wise to step away from this thread is this namecallers or namepros? Think of the children please.

I think you might be missing the point that the OP's objective was to cause AD as much humiliation as possible.

Eh? It would have taking xenforo thousands of hours to develop their forum software, wouldn't take somebody long to install it on a domain, up a logo and change the hex codes.

That's like saying it would take thousands of hours to build the wordpress platform. It would, but it doesn't take thousands of hours to install a theme and fiddle with some theme settings.

I wouldn't be surprised if we spend more money and time scaling and enhancing XenForo than they spend developing it. Websites like NamePros can't run any old software and hardware they please; they receive too much traffic and can easily be overwhelmed by the slightest performance issue. We've had to rewrite significant portions of XenForo, and we have a large library of add-ons developed entirely in-house. There are rarely less than 10 servers running the website, and quite often more. We typically log and analyze about 3 GiB of diagnostic data per day to ensure everything is running smoothly using our proprietary monitoring system, and have several third-party monitoring systems that log and audit much more.

I don't think I missed that, I don't think anyone has really, and that is precisely my point.

I like wordpress, its easy for me,especially since domainapps is done. What's the relevance? I need a website built and am still up in the air about using nichewebsites.com My wordpress skills are limited lol www.HempDelights.com

Nichewebistes.com uses a WP theme built by someone else:
http://demo.qodeinteractive.com/bridge/

ref: https://nichewebsites.com/wp-content/themes/bridge/style.css

Website prices became relevant here because people have said they did not like what they got, or did not get, when they paid Adam Dicker for a site. As people are saying here, you need to research and get quotes. It is common for people to charge the unwary large amounts to snap together prefab wordpress components.

This is the mentality that leads to widescale issues in the first place. If things are put out there publicly as soon as possible then they don't have the chance to build up in the shadows and grow until you have an issue that impacts many people.

Then I don't know what to say to you. I understand your point and I agree with you but if the things that concern you are exactly what the OP is hoping for then what do you expect to happen as a result of telling him that his objectives are being met? I suspect that he's celebrating that fact.

In the professional world you should suspend the relationship once you heard allegations until you get the facts. But in this instance that did not look like what has happened, so how many people watched a Domain Sherpa show and as a result had dealings with Niche Websites or Adam that may cause them an issue? Seems like Cyger put his friendship first when he should have put the welfare of his readership/viewership first and he only took action when it was deemed absolutely necessary. Action should have been taken at the first rumblings, he shouldn't have needed sponsors, and sherpas, and people following the show, and others to all come to him before he did something.

May be I'm old-fashioned, but if my friend have problems I will do my best to help him out, not by "suspending relationship", but by actually doing something. And I expect the same from them.
Then it's real friendship, not just professional relationship.

Let's say it, when you order a WP site, you pay for the work of setting all up, not for WP and additional components. It's a common thing between human beings, "I could do better" while failing at even starting smth.

However, there is another side, when you take the money for the job, you have to make it in the best possible way. When you take a lot of money, you must provide the best service.

There are still companies that offer simple WP sites for ridiculous prices, and should be punished...

I had rather first care about feeding hungry stomachs than about a child feeling bad about his parents' infamy.

Some people have stated here that $1500 for them is a matter of sustenance, which was extracted from them on some false promises and nothing returned. Neither the service, nor the money.

I guess, it's only Karma coming around to hunt the hunter.

Exactly. I wouldn't doubt what you wrote. Namepros performance is pretty impressive for a forum with that amount of traffic, looks like you guys did a pretty good job. Good luck to anyone scaling with wordpress.

I'm sure that's all true, but people do also underestimate how much goes into writing the software/framework in the first place. I can't speak for Xenforo but I use Invision (a competitor) and it took them 3 years to complete IP board 4.0 from conception to general release, it was a complete ground-up rewrite, was frustrating as a user awaiting a stable alpha release, it went through several beta versions and pre-releases. Once written they don't have to do much more than sit back and count their sub money, releasing the odd security patch for minor version upgrades, but sounded like a huge undertaking to get to that stage.

Thanks for agreeing, I agree with you too... It is not just one person that is being exposed here I think this will actually damage the original poster more than they realise.

You need to understand that scaling with increasing traffic is a different issue altogether.
NamePros for example hosts all its static content on CloudFlare.com, so all css/javascript files are served from their servers reducing the load on NP servers by a factor of 10x in the least.

Wordpress is very much competent to do the job as discobull shared the list above.

There are some major brands using wordpress.... Techcrunch and Mashable to name two I believe?

Most requests to namepros.com are ajax-based and are not cached by CloudFlare. CloudFlare's caches serve somewhere between 10-20% of requests. However, as much of this content must load along with each page, using CloudFlare increases apparent page load time significantly.

And you even let the domain expire, FloridaLoan.com was picked up by me about an year back.
Sorry to hear about your loss, $3000 for developing a website is a rip-off. The best of websites can be ordered to be developed for as little as $100-$1000.

Carob, the website currently is not his.
I picked up FloridaLoan.com when it expired and sold to someone else at Flippa about an year back.
The present website is that person's.
It's mine now. I did buy it about a year ago!
