This story starts with DNF; a barren wasteland that once was a leading forum within the domain industry. While the forum itself played a huge role in propagating the myth that is Adam Dicker, the story really begins with DNF College in the summer of 2011.

These are in no particular order.

From what I understand, Adam still owes north of $33,000 to previous customers and business partners. As I receive more information, I will update this figure.

Mistakes #3 is sending 3000USD upfront.... if you want a website developed, only pay up to 50% upfront, the rest after delivery. Just sayin.

edit: EXTREMELY risky to pay 100% upfront for anything if it is not immediately delivered.

Exactly, this and other mistakes from the buyers that we won't be seeing here on this forum.

O.K if the seller was full of con and buttering things, then I bet the buyers were also a bit greedy and uneducated about what they should do before they hire/join anyone's service/company. Ever heard of 'everything that glitters is not gold'.

And I bet many victims (not all, many) aren't sharing their complete agreement about the services they were promised. There's a lot of confusion when it comes to website development industry, especially these days with all the SEO and marketing thingy. So I am not saying people were over-promised, but may be, just may be, people hoped to receive above their expectations.

Conclusion: Just because buyers are less educated or haven't done their part of the research doesn't mean that they are fully innocent and the whole thing is seller's fault. I admit seller never delivered but still, use your mind, research skills and internet people. Penalty of greed and laziness should be there for such.lol.

PS: I still see many people are using this thread to reflect their personal emotions based on their own biased calculations (yes, biased), whereas there are very few who are going with facts and with the attitude of resolving things. I am with the ones who are with the victims and hope they get what's rightfully theirs and that this issue gets resolved asap. And I also hope, they will not give anyone a chance to become a victim of theirs in the future.

I don't get it. How can you challenge the premise that people were over-promised when that is something that even Adam acknowledges?

Please read the sentence again, not challenging anything here.

I said, 'may be', and believe me when I say it because there are people in this world who order a website design and expects a ready-to-launch website with content and SEO marketing. Although that's not what I meant here, just saying.

"So I am not saying people were over-promised"

There's no "maybe" in that part, just in your guess about what the alternative explanation might be. It sounds like maybe the sentence just wasn't worded the way you intended.

Every psychologist, policeman, prisoner guard tells you that dishonest people have one thing in common when caught. Excuses! To look better they try to explain why they have done something.
Do not allow to be brain washed, concentrate only facts when you listen to anyone.

I can vouch for what blenja_man has said here and can attest to his honesty, work ethic and character. I worked with him on several occasions and this project was indeed a heart wrenching failure largely, in my opinion, as a result of him trusting the promises and false claims of Adam. Claims he made of expertise, of commitment, of time investment and and more that were not given or intended to give. The over promising and under delivering (and that's putting it nicely) is not just a bad habit and it shouldn't be brushed aside as no big deal.... Real harm can and does result from this and real lives are affected. When someone of influence and prominence makes promises and claims, there is an even greater responsibility to live up to the trust that others put in them. Simply put, if you cannot or will not deliver, then do not offer. If you cannot or will not keep your word, then do not give it. And if you do have true and honest intentions but realize along the way that thing are not going as planned, do not continue to string people along for days, weeks, and months and make what is already bad, worse.

First, let me say I joined this forum after reading this thread yesterday. It just breaks my heart to read all the accounts of fraud and lies. If someone promises things like money or services in exchange for your work or money and fails to deliver on those promises that's not overpromising and underdelivering. It is fraud and theft. Those are crimes and should be reported so that other people in the future do not have to go through all of this.

This is directly from the FBI's Internet Crime FAQ:

Q: Do you have a definition of Internet crime that I can refer to?

Internet crime is defined as any illegal activity involving one or more components of the Internet, such as websites, chat rooms, and/or email. Internet crime involves the use of the Internet to communicate false or fraudulent representations to consumers. These crimes may include, but are not limited to, advance-fee schemes, non-delivery of goods or services, computer hacking, or employment/business opportunity schemes.

Just google "FBI internet crime faq". The very first link will take you there.

You can file a complaint with the FBI Internet Crime division there too.

You don't need a lawyer to go after cybercriminals. Let the FBI do its job.

This should be the URL: https://www.ic3.gov/faq/default.aspx

And I noticed the following:
Spam Emails
Q: Is there an email address that I can forward SPAM emails that I receive?

You must file a complaint on our website as the Internet Crime Complaint Center does not have a specific email address established for the receipt of such information. Be sure to copy and paste the entire email, including the header information, in the complaint.

So now domainers may be under FBI investigation if there's a spam email complaint.

Why are people talking about the FBI like it has global authority?

They have no authority over somebody if they are non-US citizens, carrying out business in another country, as long as they have no servers based in the US.

"Spam" has a very specific legal definition. Writing someone about a domain that is relevant to their business is not spam. Read the CAN-SPAM act for guidelines.

Wrong, It's not where the perpetrator operates but where the victims live. Please stop spreading false statements.

Q: Should I file a complaint if I received an offer from someone in another country to purchase an item I have listed on the Internet with payment being made in the form of a cashier's check in excess of the asking price?

If you believe you are the victim of an Internet crime, or if you are aware of an attempted crime, you can file a complaint on our website. Be sure to include as much information as possible about yourself (i.e. name, email address, mailing address, etc.), the perpetrator, and the Internet crime you are reporting in order to expedite your complaint. Be sure to copy and paste the entire email, including the header information, in the complaint. For more information on this topic, please see Internet Crime Schemes.

The FBI coordinates with authorities in other countries. They will follow up on issues that victimize Americans even if the source of the scam is outside the USA.

This is a great post. Once law enforcement gets involved with the aftermarket domain business, watch how quickly the cockroaches scramble for cover.

Do NOT feel bad about going to law enforcement, especially the FBI with their aggressiveness and resources, in the event you feel you've been conned, defrauded, ripped-off, or have been the victim of misrepresentation and have had money extracted from you due to that misrepresentation. Please do it. You do yourself and the rest of the domainer community no good by having mercy on those who steal from us or defraud us. I have a feeling if some Snapnames customer defrauded by employee shill-bidding would have filed a criminal complaint with the FBI, someone would be in jail by now. But no. It appears to me that Snapnames victims had such low self-esteem, or perhaps felt they were not worthy enough to file complaints with the FBI and demand a criminal investigation, or didn't want to bother.

Go to the cops. This nonsense will stop. There's no downside to documenting your episode with a police report.

This seems to be turning into more of a lynch mob from people that have personal grudges unrelated to this.

If you still have an issue please email me at [email protected] and we will work to get it resolved.

So far 8 people that brought forth legitimate issues have been dealt with.

Didn't you have the option to deal with those 8 and however many others there are before this thread was created? Whose choice was it to wait? You brought this on yourself.

Wrong, It's not where the perpetrator operates but where the victims live. Please stop spreading false statements.

They can only submit an extradition request, which the alleged perpetrator will then be able to contest in their own countries courts. There is a lot of precedent of extradition requests being refused and subsequently the prosecution of the defendant being carried out by their own countries authorities, if indeed their activities constitute a crime in their own country.

Plus there are many countries which have no extradition treaty and no intelligence sharing at all with the US, including many in South America. There are things which are illegal in the US which aren't even illegal in other countries, and if the crime wasn't carried out on US soil or using US servers then the home country would not extradite as no crime has been committed.

The FBI could not board a flight in New York, knock on my door in the UK, arrest me, and take me home on their plane. That would effectively be an illegal kidnapping. They would need to submit an extradition request to the UK government, who would decide whether it was a valid request, I'd have to be arrested by a UK police officer, then I'd get the opportunity to fight that extradition request in a UK court, where I could try to argue that I'd broken no UK laws and not carried out any US crime on US soil. If I could successfully argue that then no extradition would occur.

Which is precisely what I meant when I said that people should not talk about a US law enforcement agency being a global authority, what disinformation am I spreading? If I said that the National Crime Agency (UK equivalent) had no jurisdiction over you, would you dispute that? They'd have to do exactly the same, submit an extradition request to the US government, they could only prosecute you once you are on UK soil, and Amanda Knox is showing that no US citizen is going to comply with one of those from a European country without a fight.... Italy are trying to extradite her.

I would like to add: Please resist the temptation to ease off the pedal once you are paid. This is an overarching chain of actions that involves more than just yourself. Keep the pressure on until all that have been victimized is made whole. By analogy, if Madoff repaid 10 of his hundreds of victims, that did not nullify all his crimes.

You are totally wrong.
Please check this.

Q: Can I file a complaint if I am a citizen of the United States but have been victimized by an individual or company outside of the United States?

If one of the two parties involved is located within the United States, please feel free to file a complaint.

Q: Can I file a complaint if I have been victimized by an individual or company in the United States, but I am not a citizen of the United States?
If one of the two parties involved is located within the United States, please feel free to file a complaint.

As Internet crime complaints are reported online, the IC3 electronically compiles the data. Trained analysts review and research the complaints, disseminating information to the appropriate federal, state, local, or international law enforcement or regulatory agencies for criminal, civil, or administrative action, as appropriate.

I think comparisons with Bernie Madoff are ludicrous.... he ran a massive ponzi scheme on Wall Street.

Adam Dicker has just overcharged for rubbish wordpress sites and wasted a lot of peoples time.

Not saying that this thread doesn't serve an important purpose, it rightfully exists now to warn people prior to entering into arrangements with him, and it ensures that some people are refunded for shoddy services.

The simple fact that people now have the ability to be diligent by doing a google search and are aware that the service they are about to pay for is not worth the money, and that his promises don't stack up, is enough.

Talk of the FBI is just silly. People are talking about the FBI but I bet they can't state what federal crime he could be prosecuted for, and explain in simple terms why he would or should be found guilty. That's using a sledgehammer to crack a nut, and just filing the complaint is a complete waste of FBI resources (and public money), they have much bigger fish to fry.
