hm, i dont know, thats why i said TILL NOW its everything ok :hehe:

But i got the username and password for every domain and if i sell the name i just need to give username and password to the buyer, and he can by himself arrange new info about domain, like dns, ownership and so...

I have a few hundred domains purchased through ipower. I am now transferring them all out. Their website hosting is very good, but their domain hosting has many problems. I can go into detail if you want...or even provide correspondence with their executive VP about issues. They are trying hard to make improvements, but are not there yet.

Something to watch out for (unless upgrades are now in place):

1. ipower manually purchases domains; it's not an automatic process. (ar least it was this way a few months ago.) A couple of times I submitted and paid for domains...and got back a confirmation from ipower, only to find someone else had purchased the domain in the time between when I submitted and their billing dept. bought it. (One guy bought "mine" several hours after I thought it was mine.) They didn't even catch this. A month later I got a rude surprise when an offer was made, then rescinded because I wasn't the registered owner.

To test them, I bought several domains, waited 12 hours, went to another service and bought my own names before ipower got around to it. I have not bought anymore through them for a few months, so they may be better now, but you might test them by buying a name, waiting five minutes (it should be instant) and trying to buy the same name using godaddy or 1and1 or someone that has instant buying.

Good Luck.

verbster you have hit the nail on the head regarding ipower. During the umpc landrush I ordered a bunch through them. But fortunately I had already lost some domains due to their slow processing so I went over to Godaddy and picked my umpc domains up there. If you really want a domain and you think others might be going after it (due to news story or something similar) go to a faster registrar.

But as you said, they are trying to improve their domain services and I think they will get their. I use them if I don't think the name is likely to go.

It like you were saying exactly what I went through to the T. I also haven't brought from them in several months. When I first started domaining I brought all my names through them.

I lost PokertheSeries.com. After that I dropped them for good.

Sorry for re-opening this thread so long after the last reply was made..

I just purchased 30 domains through iPower for $2.95/ea. Upon purchasing them I immediately received 30 seperate emails containing confirmation information for each domain. I logged into the control panels for each domain and everything worked fine. I checked GoDaddy, Namecheap, Enom, Register, and many other registrars to see if my domains hadn't in fact been officially registered or activated yet. All of the domains appeared as "X - Unavailable" in the registrars.

The only bad thing I notice with iPower is the speed of their website. Everything else seems to be A-OK. Oh yeah, their live chat is pretty helpful too. I was connected with a support representative within 3 minutes.

Don't get it confused ipowerweb.com; two different sites.

Ipower is good if your not bulk purchasing domains. Its easy to transfer the domain to someone else and they are super cheap.

They are the same company, actually. Check the phone numbers for one such similarity

also:

* Note: Limit 50 domain names per customer at special $2.95 pricing. Pricing valid for first year only. Domains will renew at $8.25 at time of renewal, unless volume pricing arrangements have been made.

I've had mixed experiences with iPower. Until now they've been my sole registrar because they're so cheap, but at this point I don't think I'm going to use them anymore.

Most of my problems with ipower have centered around tech support issues. Without fail, when I purchase domains from iPower I will have a tech issue. It's not a matter of if but how bad. For instance, I just purchased about 8 domains from them, and of those 8 domains, 6 of them didn't have the DNS passwords set up properly. I could log into their control panel, but couldn't log into Tucows or into the domain name functions inside their control panel. It took 2 days and 15 million emails to get them to send me the proper passwords. And this was only the most recent time this has happened -- it's happened in the past as well, many times over. They must have some sort of trouble with their auto-password generator, or something, I can't figure it.

I've also had trouble with their online tech support. It's clearly outsourced to India, which I just have personal issues with. (I asked point blank once, they ignored the question.) I tried resolving my password issues with their online tech support and was told that my problem would have to be submitted to a "higher authority" (read: their domain transfer team stateside).

Anyway, it's not all bad. Their prices are great -- $2.95/per is a good deal. But keep in mind that that's only for your first 50 domains with them -- afterwards it goes up to $6/per. At $2.95/per I didn't mind quite as much putting up with the tech support hassles. But at $6/per I'd rather send my money to 1and1 or GoDaddy (and protect my sanity in the process).

I had a similar issue with iPower and someone else snapping up a domain name because it took them too long. Also, they do not do internal push, which means if you get lucky and snag a name someone wants within 60 days of its purchase, you just have to wait out the registrar lock.

ripley.

(first post here -- hi all!)

If you make the request, IPower will assign you a Centalized LogIn instead of 50 or more individual e-mails. I, of course, learned this the hard way.

With the Centralized LogIn, you can bulk-change DNS or make other alterations if needed.

My experience confirms some of the other things said here:

Manual, slow registrations on their side
At times sloppy followup, etc.

Bottom line - @$2.95 worth putting a toe in the water
