Hey, I really need an installation of Ioncube. I am with DreamHost at the moment and I know nothing about Shell or servers in general.

Is there a way around it?
Can it be installed with DreamHost?
Can I decode my PHP files some other way?

Thanks.

This was on the installation document:

Usually ioncube is standalone, and does not need additional server extensions per se. That's the difference between it and Zend, with Zend requiring a full root install of zend optimizer to work.

So ioncube should work fine if you just follow the instructions. I suggest you contact your host if you're stuck in the process

It is better if it is installed at the system level though, as it loads faster then the shared version.

Yes, the ioncube loader is much slower than a root installation.
