Bought a new .io domain through sedo last week a NN.io , bit of an investment and gamble but worth a shot in my opinion.

Anyone investing in .io domains? please feel free to share your investments.

Cheers

I have the following in the portfolio:

auctioneers.io
diamondring.io
musicproducer.io
businessinsurance.io
domainregistration.io
diamondrings.io
electricbikes.io
esportsbetting.io
peripheral.io
liquidation.io
baths.io
panoramas.io

Thoughts?

IMO, perhaps keep
peripheral.io
liquidation.io

Save your money and drop the rest.

You have to ask what would a business do with each domain... Sure, an argument could be made for some of the others but are you willing to hold very long and financially stable enough to do so?

So you don't think big product niches like Diamond Rings or Electric Bikes aren't worth anything on .io?

Do you see it being used in commerce? Then renew it as long as you believe so...

I dont see why not if a company wants an exact match for their product, right? Most extensions are gone.

Yeah I don't think they're very valuable but I could def see a business on the liquidation name - pretty common at least in the US and a lot of money in liquidation sales. The .com version is to a T the type of brand or concept it could be. And since it's io, maybe it's an NFT or shitcoin liquidation for bag holders

Then peripheral just sounds cool is the only thing I'm basing that one off of. I know there's a show that uses the name and it sounds like a cool brand, only issue is spelling it is a son of a bitch lol

liq is bit long
not so common
but I see your point

I have best test for any all 1words.. it is called alcy quality pass test... it is tm so none u here lamerz may claim it:

how often in past year or 2 have u used or heard used in a convo .casually... or tv etc.. a given 1word.. if never... dont focking get it.. if once.. forget it.. if often enuf.. get it..

liquidation... basically never

peripheral... basically same.

anyway.. at 10 and drunk I'd renew latter.. at 50... it makes no sense.

What is comes down to is how likely are you to sell those domains to either a) someone who is using those same keywords in another extension, or b) could you pitch those keywords + .io to someone who doesnt yet know they need it? Outside of that might be c) how likely will those keywords be relevant out there AND will someone contact you?

Weigh all of that, plus build your own confidence-level matrix, analyze market conditions, think about whether you're wanting to sell retail, wholesale, maybe flip domainer-to-domainer, and so on..

You know what? @Bob Hawkes (1) has very deep, EXCELLENT, write-ups as does @Eric Lyon (2) and so many others contribute excellent opinion, based on experience and research.. too many others to name.

Also, go through what is selling... this is an excellent want to see what is actually successful.

It would behoove you to study those posts, and other posts, there is no shortage of reading material.

I am selling names, today, that were registered 20 years ago. Still holding a lot of 20+ year old domains. Should I hold them all, probably not all of them. 2026 will be a year of portfolio culling for me.

Best of luck!! Hope to see you on the recent sales lists!

Liquidation places are opening up around me like crazy. Formerly large empty box stores, out of business due to covid, economy, etc, are getting into the swing of things. They seem to be selling off large volumes of amazon pallets and other things like that.. I think Liquidation is a good name considering the economy these days.

If you don’t have a top tier keyword, NN, or LL, this extension is a bad bet.
