.io .io Thread and Showcase

Spaceship Spaceship

Bought a new .io domain through sedo last week a NN.io , bit of an investment and gamble but worth a shot in my opinion.

Anyone investing in .io domains? please feel free to share your investments.

Cheers

Excellent thoughts. I'm a big believer in redirecting my domains to social networks. I use LikeUs.net to redirect to my FB page and FavoriteUs.com to redirect to my Twitter account. Social networks may come in and out of style and your redirected domain allows you to to keep-up with the changes.

I saw this one is expiring and couldn't help myself:

2015-09-12--11-24-19.jpg

I know it doesn't scream "tech startup" but it's very brandable and I see A LOT of companies using this word (including tech) so pretty happy with it.

What's the reserve price Kojaki?
I think 4.4K might be a little too optimistic (for a brandable name) - even 2 letter FX.io only sold for 2K, most sell in low $xxx

I own:

  • ice.io
  • Horizon.io
  • daddy.io

I bought a few .IOs but looking back with hindsight it wasn't a brilliant idea. I do think though that ice.io has a good vibe about it. Will you sell or keep it for a few years ?

Best,
Paul

PS I'm not interested to buy myself. I just think the domain could be a runner if you find the right EUser.

Hey Paul,

I have received good offers for Horizon.io too. With and without Flippa.

For ice.io I haven't done anything yet, only listed it on Flippa, and it 's receives tons of low ball offers (xxx). I don't think it is smart to fall in love with your own domains and I am absolutely open for selling it. I just need to spend more time on finding an end user.

ice.io is before and after the dot a 'cool' brand and it can be used for many industries. I see a great opportunity for a cloud company, referring to 'data conservation'.

Thanks,

Freddie

Hi Freddie.

I agree it is not a good idea to fall in love with your domains ;) Still we are all guilty of doing this I think !

Good luck with the domain anyway. I think it could do well.

Best,
Paul

I figured with all the numeric madness lately (even 6N selling for $x,xxx) might as well snach a few .io
3x 1nn and 2x n888

Go buy some so we can create artifitial scarcity :P

Falling in love with your domain is a nice idea. It gives you that confidence that potential buyers will like to place an order. The key in selling your domain is getting a catchy domain that is easy to pronounce and spell.

Cheers.

around 400 NNN (without 4s) left
Pity I don't have $14K - I would buy all, tell everyone it must be the "crazy number-loving Chinese" and sell for $100+ a month later ;)

SiliconValley dot io

silicon-valley.jpg

Silicon Valley is in the southern part of the San Francisco Bay Area in Northern California in the United States. The region is home to many of the world's largest technology companies including Apple, Cisco, Google, HP, Intel and Oracle. The term originally referred to the region's large number of silicon chip innovators and manufacturers, but eventually came to refer to all the high-tech businesses in the area; it is now generally used as a metonym for the American high-tech startups sector. Despite the development of other high-tech economic centers throughout the United States and the world, Silicon Valley continues to be the leading hub for high-tech innovation and development, accounting for 1/3 of all of the venture capital investment in the United States. Since the early twentieth century, Silicon Valley has been home to a vibrant, growing electronics industry. The industry began through experimentation and innovation in the fields of radio, television, and military electronics. Stanford University, its affiliates, and graduates have played a major role in the development of this area.
