Does anyone feel .io will be used for something else? Sure tech related but I've been gathering these for over 4 years now; this is nothing new to me but I have yet to find anyone purchasing these domains for the same reason I am.

I keep making public post in sub forums but they keep getting deleted as the mods think it's unrelated to the subject.

So after four years of acquiring these I would like to know if anyone is on the same track as me.

I was right about the extension many years ago and now I should be right for the second wave coming.

These post like mine always get overlooked and buried with new lost to come.

I see a surge in .IO over the coming years especially within the tech industry.

Everyone has difference of opinion. Nothing wrong in it. No one is expert here. At least I am not an expert. I am a learner. I try to share my thoughts based on actual facts. No one really knows what will happen in next minute. Below is Google Trend for .io Domain. Growing gradually and slowly since 2011 until now. That is 5 years of data which is fact. Sometimes we need to predict future based on current situation. Current trend is taking .io in right direction. Lets see what happen. I have made good money with it so it is beneficial for me. Situation can be different for everyone. I am not promoting .io to buy or sell. I am just trying to share facts with everyone. Every investment involves risk. Everyone has to take their own decision. I am happy with what I have in .io sector.

dont like, i still prefer .com, net, org. co
even
.web
.inc
.site
.corp
.tech
will do much better, once everything get organized.... .io what? i know the skwiky sound of the I, but i dont fall for it,, is nothing,, is expensive, and not much of a future..

Most of the short cctlds are taken by Chinese investors in last 3-6 months apart from .io is already used in western market.. Most of the cctlds are made up gtlds kind of domain hacks. They are shorter and cheaper. This is new trend in domaining.. I am not sure how are you up to date with market especially after Chinese influence.

not really, I'm up to schedule actually, lots have not been release to public yet, and as for the ones they did already, I still see TONS OF STUFF AROUND, for whoever you are, squatter, domain-or, tech geek, company,whatever....
we all know how the chinese are trying to buy the internet... they might succeed who knows...

for me it will still be indian ocean, just like .co is for colombia, they can be used in different ways, but at the end the person that owns
domain.co or domain.io will face the .com matter what

.IE may sound better but I would assume .io has a wider appeal and global recognition. Some might even say they prefer the sound of .io to that of .ie

Im just jocking with .ie ....your talking about a very small percentage, most of them small tech companys that squat the .com, .net. org, and .co now, for me and the rest of the planet earths population, means only indian ocean, or a chessy cool sound for a domain... a lot of earth population never even heard .io, regardless of the spike that .io has created in their charts, it's all squatters buying .io domains, and trying to resale them claiming is a big tech extension, when in reality real people dosent know it, and big corporations or people with the .com, .net.org. co know they are being squatted..
I was in CES 2016 vegas, all TECH COMPANIES attend here, all of them!, tons of chinese, japanese, korean, singapur, indonesia.... I saw like 2-3 .io only, ALL OF THEM .COM, and this is because I LOOKED AT ALL COMPANIES TO CHECK WHAT EXTENSION THEY ARE USING.. talking with other colleges, it all came down to small tech companies squatting and making news to sale and get recognition for the extension, but REAL TECH COMPANIES using or jumping to get an .io, sorry but NOOOOOOOOOOO,

I'm starting to notice more and more sites with the .io TLD - most are tech related companies. None the less the fact that they are being used more and more for actual websites is surely a good sign

A GOOD EXAMPLE ...
I see you have KUB.IO for sale in your site for low $x,xxx, kub.com is a big tech company from malaysia, do you expect another tech company to take your kub.io and use it also for tech???...ohhh I see, it can be use for anything...

.io is a poor mans .com/net alternative.
Recently I sold my second LLL.io (CHIP) name for $350 + fees.
He would not be able to buy .com/net or even .co for that price so he settled for .io
It's a very specific extension - buying normal keywords like "floridalawyer", "cheapshoes" etc. doesn't really make sense.
End user in mind should always be app/web developer.
Things that might sell - 3L (e.g. someone's initials), words that can be used as an app name or web service (e.g. tickets, servers), brandable words used for portfolio or personal site (e.g. skyline) etc

Another thing, it looks like .IO is starting to catch up with .INFO with regards to daily sales over xxx and .IO doesn't even have half as many auction houses to sell from.

.IO sales - https://namebio.com/?s=gMxkTN3QDN

.INFO sales - https://namebio.com/?s=gNwkTN3QDN

Just for other cctld comparables:

.CC sales - https://namebio.com/?s=QMykTN3QDN

.CO sales - https://namebio.com/?s=gMzkTN3QDN

.CN sales - https://namebio.com/?s=AM0kTN3QDN

.BIZ sales - https://namebio.com/?s=AN5kTN3QDN

Some people here have said that .IO doesn't sell on any other platforms, well how about looking at some popular ones. .INFO mostly sells on GoDaddy, one that .IO isn't listable on yet. .CN only sells on .CN and SEDO, .BIZ is GoDaddy and Namejet with the odd SEDO

So what's this noise about .IO on 3 auction houses when many other gtld and cctlds only sell on 2-3 auction houses themselves. Heck even .org is mostly Pheenix, Godaddy, Namejet( https://namebio.com/?s=QO3kTN3QDN ) the odd Flippa and Dropcatch.

.COM and .NET are the ones that have diverse auction sale sites, and .CC has a mix too.
