I have a few hundred dollars. I don't wanna domain, though I know domains are going to be huge in the future. Bigger then they are now, where would you suggest I put my money? I want solid investments.

I saw it as that he doesn't want to be a domainer but would like to invest in a few domains for investment purposes rather than as a job/hobby so was looking for opinions.

Gold or silver - if you live in the US.

The dollar may continue to fall, OPEC may decide to price oil in Euros which do not have the huge debt that the US has, China may decide to sell it's stacks of dollars.

But I would say a 3 - 5 year term.
And I expect LLLL.coms and other good domains will out perform metals.

I realize now that I had worded that wrong. I am looking to invest in a particular niched domain market. Though one that I can just hold the names for a few years. That is what I mean, I was really looking for your inputs and ideas sense you are domainers and all.

Thank you

I agree with Reece, your best bet is to buy a few nice triple premium LLLL.coms, register them for a few years and you'd be set.

I would agree that in domains at the moment the cleanest play is LLLL.coms. Pay the renewals for a few years, (the registry is going to raise renewal prices, anyway), and put them away.

Conventional wisdom is always "buy the best you can afford". My contrary nature says the opposite, in this case. I think as prices rise there will be a shrinking of the percentage difference between the worst and the premiums. LLL.com shows this effect.

But any LLLL.com investment - if bought at good prices - will, in the long term, do very well, in my opinion.

Good quality LLLL.coms or LLL.coms are almost guaranteed to go up substantially

Just my two cents

Sorry not to be pointing you in the directon of domains.

The reason I am not is you have not put your homework into and you will not believe in your domain investment even if you did buy a premium LLLL.com

Without commitment to domains and studying this business and understanding what makes certain domains valuable you will more than likely cave when the pressure comes up and your investment will not perform anyway.

Lets say you buy a nice LLLL for a few hundred bucks, then in the next year you get overloaded with reading bad news as the recessions is getting alot worse. Then at that same time you come into Namepros and see some folks complaining that LLLL are not going up much, or temporarily sliding.

What will your response be as a investor that has little or no knowledge of how domains perform?

See the real LLLL investor will know much has to happen and it takes a good while for it move to new highs. No you will not have commitment to hold on, so you may panic and sell.

The LLLL may stagnate and then like silver and gold go thru the roof in a short time.

The commited investor will still have his/her LLLL inventory and you will be seeing them declare the killing they made and you will cry like spilled milk.

First thing to do is learn about the domains, then invest.

Without a deep knowledge of what names are valuble you are throwing darts at a board with a blindfold on.

Knowledge is paramount in this business.
