Internet.bs has been sold.

If you have an account there they have just sent you an email about this.

The news is on their site
http://www.internetbs.net/faq/content/1/33/en/centralnic-acquires-internetbs.html

Buyer is Centralnic - anyone know them?

This is pretty old news..However, they did send out a new update email today. They are going to be offering the new gTLD's and .ME in the near future..Plus, they are changing their Private WhoIs company. It will still be free, but will be handled by a different company out of the Bahamas now.

Been having trouble transferring names out of internet.bs - anyone else?

About half the authcodes are incorrect - often containing extra or incorrect punctuation, even if you follow their instructions to open exports as text files.

Quite a few transfer authorisation emails do not get through if you have privacy on - seems they don't forward some of them.

If you remove privacy the emails get through, but then there seems to be no option to reapply privacy while transfer is pending.

If you have problems with the auth code, generate your own.

To generate an authorization code, do this. Go to My Account > Click on your domain name > EPP Auth Info (it will be a yellow button). Put your code in the box that says: New. Then click update. Your new code should allow you to transfer without issues. (Though I have never had a problem with the punctuation marks.)

Internet.bs has a 5-day transfer process. Once the domain starts to transfer, you cannot change your contact information. It is locked in. Therefore, if you do not want to remove the privacy before the transfer, make sure your email address is correct and that you can receive emails before you transfer. After the transfer starts, it is too late to set-up privacy again.

I have used Internet.bs for about 7 years and I have never had them prevent a domain transfer.

I hope this information helps. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi you can't do that with an expired domain, though - there is no button to do so. So they tell you to use the export function to generate a .csv file, and then open it as a text file.

Trouble is, it inserts extra quotation marks or misinterprets actual ones, and you have to keep resubmitting the authcodes over and over and over with various treatments of the punctuation... or contact support to generate a new, valid authcode. Really a pain - the way IBS treats expired domains is not satisfactory.

If they are already expired, then my method will not work. I did not realize that the domains were expired. I was not even aware that expired domains can be transferred to a new registrar. I have never tried that. :) I am sorry that I could not help at all. Peace.

Bumping this thread to hear if anyone here has used Internet.bs for a long time?

Their control panel seems very good and fast. On the other hand, their blog hasn't been updated in a long time, and their FAQ section is incredibly small...

Are they a good alternative to the U.S-based registrars?

I liked them a lot, but am not using them anymore because they are not connected to Afternic FT. Otherwise, would be my first choice. Great UX, great pricing.

Thanks.

I think they do offer Afternic FT now. I actually asked their support about this today and they confirmed it.

Wow, what a news!
But they are not in Afternic list, at least i checked just yesterday. May be we should ask Afternic for a confirmation.

Yes, it is true that on Afternic's website they appear as a standard network partner - not premium. I will try to add a few names.

Just got confirmation from Afternic, that InternetBS is FT eligible. Seems they have a chunk of my business now, again.

@Embrand thanks again for this news!

That sounds good. I think I will move more names over there as well. They do seem like a good registrar.
