hi everybody!

i'd like to have a web site developed that is a forum with the possibility to change into 5 different languages.

my market is so niche that it would be best to reach people in many different countries as that's where i believe the numbers will come in.

does anyone have any idea of how this process is done?

is it very expensive?

recommendations are welcome. are there companies who build web sites like this?

i've seen where there are flags at the top of the home page on sites and the language can be changed, but mostly for e-commerce sites so far and i'm looking to create something more interactive, like a forum.

thank you for any advice/help you can offer!

What is the need for translating the website?Google translator tool is available.Any body who wants to see that web site in different language, he can use this tool to translate.By doing this you don't need to spend again for developing the site in other languages.

thanks so much, magento!

i think you've helped identify the real issue here which would be reaching those people of that niche in their respective languages.

when i go to the websites of the niche, but in a different language, i find entirely different posters and ideas being shared, than when i go to websites of the same niche, but in english.

i would like to find a way to unite these people and broaden the discussions.

it looks like even though the internet is global, people of certain languages/countries, continue to only speak amongst themselves.

i speak other languages but fall into this same thing as well because i will either read in a language i know, or find the info i need elsewhere. i have to be pretty desperate to use the google translator (lol), but that's just me.

i was thinking it would be more accessible for more people if it were just a click away, already in different languages, but centrally located on the same site.

but i believe you have an important point about the cost as well.

Well, site you are trying to made would might be the first one of that type but it will surely require a lot of skill to make such site and so do the cost. This project is not impossible at all however, requires a lot of resources.

that's a very important point you made there, @severesa! thank you.

i just happened to notice that within one language, i see many posters on different forums sharing information, but once i looked into forums in a different language, the posters are different, the sharing is different, as well.

frankly, i'm surprised this hasn't already been done....which would give an in depth "forum model" to see.

maybe it could be for the cost required to do such a thing, but uniting web users in a specific niche without the boundries of language, would be profitable to global vendors, as well.

hopefully someone will chime in on hw this can be done.

which types of resources would be needed? thanks folks!
