I just noticed this when visiting site now. I'm not sure when this change happened.
The Webs top blog on Lifestyle Design FourHourWorkWeek.com has upgraded it's domain to the gTLD tim.blog It's the World's top blog on Lifestyle Design of course, because it is Tim Ferris's blog, who practically started the Lifestyle Design movement with his book Four Hour Work Week.
tim.blog is a pretty good domain upgrade, as branding wise, it works with Tim Ferris's high profile. As well as being good for word of mouth i.e. for people finding the site easily from WOM.
I'm not sure if this interview had anything to do with Tim deciding to do the change TIM FERRISS AND MIKE ROWE DISCUSS DOMAIN TYPOS See article here, where it's pointed out that there are 8 or more possible misinterpretations of the spelling of Four hour work week, after hearing it. As they say ..that pesky radio test.
But even though tim.blog passes the radio and WOM test, I think there is a loss of intrigue branding wise, in that anyone who hears Four Hour Work Week for the first time is intrigued enough to want to know more. Just on the name alone. Also implied, is that it is information that could benefit them. As most would want to improve their lives by being able to have a four hour work week, right?! There are very few brands in the World that on name alone can move people to action, in getting them to check out the product or site, simply on first hearing the brand. tim.blog doesn't quite have this effect as a brand.
But I thought the change in domain name to a gTLD by such a prominent blog was interesting. Especially for NP members focused on gTLDs, in seeing how end users are using them.
