"Intellectual" Charity Event

Here's the thing, I wanted to organize a charity event at my university comprising of volunteers presenting something on stage (singing, dancing, etc.). But others in the organizing committee wants it to be more of an "intellectual" charity event.

I don't really know what that means though. Can anyone suggest charity events that's more on the intellectual side? Thanks!

may be they will invite research papers for presentation, debates, group discussions, quizes, etc

I agree with the champ. Quizies, debates, etc is the way to go there. Perhaps dancing, but the primary focus should be on the mind.

Ok, but how do we get a large number of people to come watch a few people debate over something? (This will happen over the Christmas/New Year festivities by the way).

people generally wil not come. u will have to have attractive prizes for participants so that maximum turn up
