Installing Vista - Need help!!!

Everyone on NamePros seems to know how to fix problems with their computers.

I've tried to install Vista on 2 of my computers and both get the same error to do with iastor.sys -

My motherboard is an ASUS P5GC-MX/1333 running a NVIDIA 8600GT, 250gig SATA drive & 1gig DDR2 ram.

Please help :(
NP$ & REP will be awarded to anyone that's helpful! :)

Unless you got 2gigs+ ram in each computer you are attempting to install Vista on, I do not recommend installing it - I actually downgraded to XP from Vista.

Ram is getting upgraded on Wednesday, I figured this would be a problem so I'd knock out this pain in the bum error now.

:p

Thanks though!

Depending on what you're wanting to do too, I wouldn't recommend it - gaming and anything with mild to high graphics is a big no in vista, as they do not support OpenGL. But if it comes down to it, go for it :) I just highly recommend NOT going with Vista, unless it is absolutely needed. I would take ME/2000 over Vista anyday  :imho: :hehe:

Hey jamesssssyyyyyy,

Good that you will update your RAM...bad that you want to install Vista..LOL

Get the latest ASUS Driver for your board, i also sugest tht you update your BIOs(be careful)

Can you specify the error with iastor.sys because there are different errors out there.....

Cheers

I believe it is a RAID Driver problem, SATA is well known for that on Vista....got a solution somewhere in my bookmarks folder(just have 2 browse 250.000 bookmarks) :)

Bloody legend, I narrowed it down to the RAID driver problem but do I need to turn AHCI on or off etc?

Everytime I try to load those drivers from USB pen, It didn't work....
I was using my phone as a usb pen drive though

EDIT: My Board doesn't support AHCI.... I need to get this USB way working

My laptop came with Vista and I want rid of it, I keep getting display driver errors due to my nvidia card and Vista not in tune, there seems to be no fix for this at this time... search yahoo for such problems about your card, I dont believe its a laptop only problem.
