Just an interesting idea for a thread, there is no doubt another thread just like this one but hey. I am basing this post over my feelings today. It's hard to describe but after parting with my main cash cow site due to my new school term focusing on my a levels (UK exams before University) i felt like i needed a new project.
I sat here today browsing namepros threads, sitepoint, digitalpoint and many other wed design/development communitys i visit and i was well and truely stumped. I sat in my back garden (the wonders of wireless internet) clueless looking for ideas.
This lead me to thinking, how do the fellow members of namepros gather inspiration that leads to site ideas. Whenever i create a site, i love it to be unique. Creating clones of other sites bore me and i love the risk of sucess and failure when it comes to web development.
Got me thinking, my normal solution is what i call the sit and wait tactic. You browse the net for a few days and BAM, suddenly a nice gap in the market is suddenly sitting right infront of you. I decided to think of a way around this method, like a method that would guarentee a flow of ideas to my brain.
I thought, sucessfull websites offer a solution to problems. Namepros offers a solution to users wishing to sell websites and various online and sometimes offline goods. That's namepros thing.
Myspace, offers users a place to socially interact with others without leaving your home. It can be used to keep in touch with relatives/loved ones and general friends who happen to not live close by without the use of phone calls in semi-realtime.
Amazingly, with this new state of mind, i browsed the namepros forums and almost instantly, came up with an idea.
This got me thinking, what are other poeples methods to solving lack of inspiration?
