Dissertation ideas

Hi guys,

I'm writing a dissertation for the end of my Business degree and I want to primarily base it round domains. So, I'm looking for some inspiration! Maybe I could examine the impact of new extensions on the .com market? Choosing the perfect domain name? Are there any other pressing issues in the industry that would be good to examine?

I always found it very interesting to read about the growing backorder domain market(mafia) and development. No, serious I found very old entries somewhere and they talked about to allow backorders only through the registry.Of course this option is now gone.
Impact of new extensions on the .com market ? Who knows it really ? Only the future will tell us more. Anyway, good luck !

Yeah potential impact of course.
I cant really find any journals about domains. Suppose not many academics know about the industry.

There is so much I can write about for choosing the perfect domain - but it would be good to have an interesting twist on this.

Any more ideas?

Marketing strategies for companies that have purchased domain names for their business? Could look into why they have decided to invest large amounts of money into a domain name, rather than choose an alternative / not bother buying the domain at all.

There are quite a few interesting examples around, particularly where the domain is a domain hack / is not a keyword domain :imho:

Use the top keyword as a domain name to have an advantage among the competitor sites.
