Depends on what you plan to do with the domain? Resell, build a site for ecom, for local biz?

I personally would go for .com if you plan to build a business with it.
If you do local biz, then look for CC domains. There are some good tech extensions if that's your niche like .ai and .app

If you want to resell domains and found a really nice premium keyword that is available for handreg for whatever domain extension, then sure go for it.
