Hi guys,

Just curious, Until last month registration fee of .info domain is 99c at godaddy. now its $1.99.

So the reg value is doubled. In that sense those who regged last month, are their domains worth double now?

Is there any bright future for .info? in coming months!

Please share your ideas and thoughts about it.

Thanks and regards

Their domains are worth what they can sell them for, which is probably about the same as it was before. In many cases, that will be $0, irrespective of whether they paid $0.99, $1.99 or more for the names.

I love .infos but I have to say I'm always amazed by some of the words people register because it only costs a buck. The irony is the only information people are likely to need on most dictionary word .info's is how to spell them and if you can get to the site you probably already know that.

Just because the regfee doubles doesnt mean the value of your domains also double.

Actually, you could make an argument that they're worth LESS because now everyone needs to pay $1 more per year to keep the names. Higher registration fee generally means worth LESS, not worth more (see the premium .tv names still available to understand where I'm coming from).

One word generic premiums are going for good prices...$XXXX and up. Also city names. Other than that I don't think they are worth much.

So with some of my names at netsol and register.com being $35 a year to reg, mine are worth exponentially more than names at Moniker or Enom or etc?

Nah, I think not.

moving the minimum price up makes it worth more

Yes I agree with this. Higher maintenance fees are not a positive. And high fees means less regs; less regs means more available domains and lower value for incomplete portfolios.

I don't think a change in reg fee price anywhere between $.99 and $9.99 really changes the value of what's already registered at all. If a name is good it's worth many times either of those. If it's bad, it's probably not worth either of them. The low price might lead o more odd registrations just because it's affordable, but those crappy names won't effect the price of the good ones.

I don't think so as I think it was just a promo for the weekend. You could always try it with the promo code "777infod" @ Mydomain, but don't think it'll still work
