Google Doubles in Value in 10 Months!

Google has doubled in value from $200 in Jan 05 to $395 today!

In the last 3 days alone, I have seen $3bn added to the market cap. And in the last month or two, almost $30bn added to the Google Cap.

The question is, is speculation responsible for the rise in Google's share price? Or is it growth?

Everything that Google does now is seen as a masterly move (even if the product itself is below par ... for instance take the case of Google Talk) ... that IM client looked more like a computer science grad's weekend project. Yet, you go anywhere and people were talking about how cool it is and all that. Not that it wasnt cool, but .......
So, it's more the buzz factor that Google generates than it's actual growth that's responsible for it's outrageous share prices. I wonder how the company will react when the share prices actually start falling rapidly. That's where the actual strenght will be tested.

IMO, the only time it would be worth investing in Google would be:

1. If you have too much spare cash
2. If you want a VERY long term investment (5-10 years).

I for one, would NOT invest in Google unless the share price was MUCH lower. I believe that Google is about to go head-to-head with MSFT, which will not do investors much good....

There is however, the chance of Google ruling the 'net at some point on the distant horizon, in which case your investment could double over the next 5 years. I wouldn't chance it though.
