I am new to flipping domains but it has really caught my eye as a way to substantiate income. From what I have seen, the .info names are the cheapest to buy but is there any money involved when it comes to selling them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

generally though I would say it's easier to sell a .com domain than an .info. of course it is also harder to get a good .com than to get a decent .info, but my personal experience with .infos is not good, I would only buy an ,info if it was really cheap and really good :)

i can tell you are newbie, because of the term used "flipping domains"

don't think for a second that this business is about a flip

because a flip is more than a notion, after you have spent your money on a domain....thinking you're going to "flip" it for big profits.

Mkay I have some .info domains im interested in buying on godaddy and they are only $0.89 so I think I will go ahead and buy them and get them appraised on here.

despite imput from others, you are still determined to spend your $0.89 on .info because they are cheap to reg

there's a reason why they are so cheap, and what will be the renewal fee for them next year....when/if you don't "flip" them?

But Good Luck!

get started by saving your money to purchase some domains that produce traffic and revenue

"buy yourself a revenue stream"

then use those earnings to "re-invest" in "speculative" domains that you think you can turn over quickly or hold as long term investments.

imo...

You can earn some cash on .info domains, but don't sell them at forums, look for end users. :)

what exactly is an end user?

The allure of a $1 acquisition price and the hope of selling for much more is deceptive. Recently I had about fifty .info domains which will likely be ~forty in the next few months. I did sell one recently for $250 at SEDO so perhaps I've covered most of my costs with that one sale. But if you look at SEDO & Afternic quarterly sales reports they always show that the TLD with the most sales by far is .COM. You can speculate on high-quality .Nets but they are more difficult to sell. Beyond .Com/.Net sales are much harder to come by.

P.S. An end user is a company/individual/organization which would like to acquire your domain and may be more focused on branding potential & search engine positioning potential than certain metrics that domainers often focus on like traffic and Google Adwords Keyword Tool search volume.

Very true. It takes money to make money. If you want to make a good return, you need to be able to invest respectable amounts of money in established domains. The real money isn't in fresh regs nowadays.

Yep, and listen to what Biggie says. You need to read between the lines too :gl:

I have a new question guys,

I am registered at godaddy.com and if someone were to buy a domain name from me, does it cost me to transfer that name to their account (wherever it may be)???

Ok I may be the 1 voice in the crowd that loves .info domains. I have found that with the low overhead costs it's quite easy to make a profit with .info's ...you just need to use the right criteria and filters to find the gem domains. I would rather have an epic .info keyword then some ****** 3 word/dash .com anyday......but that's me and that's after quite a bit of trial and error.

So I do agree with others if your just starting out stick with .com/.net but don't be so closed minded. Lots of domainers are so stuck on .com that they fail to see potential anywhere else.....It's truly a shame really :)

My advice would based on your in-experience is to read and learn a LOT more about domaining before buying ANY domains.
.info's can Make money , but so can any domains The KEY to an effective domain is a combination of Keywords, TLD and the marketing.

yea I have somewhat of a grasp on choosing good keywords but the only way to find out is to do it.

I agree that .info is not ideal extension, but is not bad either. And if you are creative (and are in this business long enough to understand it) you can find a few .info domain each day, which are still available, and resell them quickly (if you want to flip them really fast) for $3-$10........you will not get rich, but that would be ROI of 3-10 in a very short period (could be days in question). But you need to undersand this industry to know which niches you should hit, to know which type of domains domainers likes, and be creative.
My opinion;)

But that you reg some domain and resell it in less than a year for some high $xx.xxx amount, for that you would need magic stick, or you have to be Federer:lol: Federer is a member here who have probably the best ROI in the whole domain industry! ;)
