Hi fellow domainers,

I recently picked up a handful of .PRO domains and got the email from RegistryPro about needing to submit professional information to activate and keep the domains.

The information required is:

First Name (or company/organization)*:
Last Name (or company/organization)*:
Date of Licensure: / / MM/DD/YYYY
Type of Profession*:
Jurisdiction Country*:
Licensing Authority*:
License Number*:
Licensing Authority Website*:

I went to the local courthouse today to register a sole proprietorship, asked for assistance filling out the last 3 (the bold ones), and the lady was clueless and said that information was not available(?). So... I just need help figuring out how I can get the information to answer the last 3 questions.

I never registered the sole proprietorship by the way (not yet at least). Felt like it would be a better idea to check here and see how other domainers are handling this issue first.

Thanks in advance.

Licensing Authority*: Your gov agency that granted it
License Number*: any number they gave you with the proprietorship
Licensing Authority Website*: a link to the local gov that granted the proprietorship

==========

Registrypro is supposed to be checking 1% a year for compliance. I've not heard of any challenges.

Thanks for the quick response.

So the website is just my local city's (official) website, and the licensing authority would just be the name of my city, right?

The clerk also said she had no idea about the licensing number, and she handles sole proprietorships on a daily basis since that's her job. That doesn't help me feel very confident since I really need that information (lol).

Are you positive that I will get a licensing number upon registration?

Thanks again Ben42 - I do appreciate your help.

your country? state?

I think you will need a permit/license to do something.

do they offer a license/permit to collect sales tax? a permit to operate a food stand? to sell books?

To answer your question, not completely sure. I remember reading in the giant .PRO discussion that a sole proprietorship was sufficient, which is also thankfully the easiest and cheapest way to officially "conduct" business. But after going up to the local courthouse, I didn't have all the info I thought I needed. Should be cleared up now though, although you are still more than welcome to add any input or advice.
