I have had the same paypal business account for 4 years and I went to log in tonight and I got this for no reason. I have not used my account for anything unusual. Any suggestions Please!!!

I spoke with several different people and the one that told me was a supervisor.

have they told you about the action that they would take? Or are they going to just take all your money in it?

I just so happened to have transfered my money to my back account so I did not have any there, but they said that they are closing my account and if I had any funds that they could be held for 180 days!!!

Is this because you sold adult material on eBay or could PayPal also close your account if you registered a domain name using your PayPal account? If so, I would imagine a few
Namepro members could be in jeopardy.

I doubt they could get you for registering an adult domain name.

PayPal in Australia

All you American PayPal Users should consider yourselves very Lucky
Us Poor old Aussies Can't Verify our PayPal Acct. Any way except using
A VISA/MasterCard CCard
(I Don't/Can't Get One under our Restrictive Credit laws)
No Amex/Discover Card Usage at all
Can't Use Bank Account Details to Verify
Can't Use PayPal to Pay for eBay Charges
(Even though Ebay Recommends PayPal Use for Ebay Purchases)
Makes me wonder why I bother.
Mainly because it is still one of the only Methods of getting Money from Overseas. And yes I do use/have alternatives (MoneyBookers,Egold,NeTeller, & Others)

They said it was because the buyer paid me through Paypal for the Adult site.

Get a visa/mc debit card from Bengio bank, StGeorge, or BankSa.

Come on. Why would they care about an adult site? They are perfectly legal unless they are depicting minors or if minors view it. They should focus their attention on warez sites and other sites like that.

It's situations like this prevent me from even thinking about getting a paypal account.

Paypal is really good. Unfortunely people have bad experiences with everything and this is one of them but for this there are 1,000 people out there who are doing great with it. Just read and follow the rules and just use common sense and they will leave you alone.

Remember: they closed my account ONLY for having the domain name http://earthliberationfront.com

You have no rights and no recourse. They are not a bank- this is why...

this sound like good advice.. and i use to say that to others until i was hit recently as a Buyer (buying domain=non delivery) and seller(selling webdesign=buyer charge back claiming non delivery)

in both cases Paypal say they cannot help me because its "electronic intangleble" stuff"

lost a few hundred bucks!

i don't think buying domains with paypal would affect their service in any way. many domain or hosting companies use paypal for transactions, don't they?

Unfortunately it's not that easy. Following the rules to the letter, only to find out you sold to a buyer with a stolen credit card, will lose you your money (All that was from that buyer, and the rest will be on hold for 60 days or so... lovely). That was anything you did wrong, just PayPal not being willing to take simple precautions (Not going into that here, that's another thread ;) ).

It's more important to empty your account every day. In fact, I've taken to going one step further:

I have a bank account I only use for PayPal. It has no overdraft protection, and money won't come out unless there's money in there. Every day I transfer PayPal money to this bank account, and then I transfer the money from that bank account to another bank.

Anything to keep it a little further from paypal's grimey little hands...

That's great advice, Allan!
Too bad we have to do business with a virtual monopoly.
It will get better when other players compete in this segment...

Heres a solution - stormpay or egold u dont here much bad about them...paypal like to randomly close accounts and annoy users...there giving themselves a bad name...and why shouldnt you be allowed to accept a payment for an adult site...its still a website.

Yeah unfortunely not many sites or people accept those so if you plan on accepting and paying out money on the internet then paypal is the only way to go right now. They have over 71 million accounts and hear and there you hear about people who have had a bad experience but overall they are good.

I guess as long as you use it 100% legit you'll be fine.

Thing is why do paypal care about selling an adult domain name, its not like on a forum where underage people can see it they dont have a userbase like that its between 2 people at all times buyer and seller.
