I remember reading somewhere, maybe here or on some blog that a person had 14000+ Linkedin connections and suddenly someday, like a bolt out of blue, he got a 5 or 6 figure offer from some company to acquire his domain name. So the strategy you are following should pay off well someday. Good going!

Since the beginning of this year, I've actually been using LinkedIn more. I moved away from Geo domains to the names I can pitch to the Ceo/Cmo. I haven't been able to close a sale yet but it is different and on the plus side you get their personal email.
But you're right growing our connections is actually a great idea. Something I have to start doing also
